but when Z throws his breaking ball, the ump is not giving him the low pitch.

that seems to be how I see this ump’s “inconsistency.” It is not working to Z’s advantage as he is not getting the calls on his low breaking ball while Johnson is getting the call on his low fastball.

Sorry — I just get kinda fired up because some people seem to think it’s some anti-Cub conspiracy. Not saying you do. It just speaks to the sense of entitilement that other fans accuse us of having.

by Shanghai Badger on Aug 15, 2008 7:18 PM CDT up reply actions

That was poorly written

I mean I’m not saying you think it’s a conspiracy.

by Shanghai Badger on Aug 15, 2008 7:20 PM CDT up reply actions

I will say this

The camera coverage is somewhat lacking. Every fly ball is shown as if it was hit 500 feet.

But then, I often dislike the Cubs camera coverage, too. Except fan cam…

by Shanghai Badger on Aug 15, 2008 7:21 PM CDT up reply actions

The camera wells in Wrigley

Are perfectly placed. Other places (I’m lookin’ at you Anaheim!) have some really weird wells that greatly distort the view of the park.

by Clutch16 on Aug 15, 2008 7:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Placed well, yes

But they miss a lot of action. On fly balls, zoom in so close that if the fielder drops it, you don’t know other than by the reaction — can’t see the ball. Follow throws instead of panning back…

More the director than the cameras.

by Shanghai Badger on Aug 15, 2008 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions

You can blame...

The director for switching to a camera being run by an unskilled operator.

by Clutch16 on Aug 15, 2008 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions

I think some of it is how they decide to shoot the game

Also, I HATE the field level behind the plate shot for pitches. No concept of where the ball is in relation to the zone.

by Shanghai Badger on Aug 15, 2008 7:30 PM CDT up reply actions

That is a poor angle

But it’s there in case you ever wondered what that ump looked like from the back.

kinda like it, its at least giving me a little entertainment during this game.
