Funny thing

I took in my first Cubs games last week and ran into Sean walking to the Chicago History Museum. I was walking across the street and he was standing near the corner talking to someone sipping on what looked like a iced coffee. I said “Hey, you’re Sean Marshal”. He said “Yep”. I stood and talked to him for about 10 minutes. We talked mostly about where I was from and what I had seen in Chicago up to that point. It was like talking to a friend. He was a great, great guy to talk to. I am a True Sean Marshall fan after that.

Question

If the Cubs win the division who would they play in the first round of the playoffs

the wildcard or the team with the worst record?

If this was prison I would shank you.

by brownbuddha on Aug 16, 2008 6:15 PM CDT reply actions

That depends

If Milwaukee is the wild card, the team with the worst record.

If the wild card comes from another division, then them.

There is no place like Nebraska - Go Huskers!

by sanantonecub on Aug 16, 2008 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions

It's tricky

They play the Wild Card unless the WC is from the same division (Which it will be) so they ultimately face the weakest division winner.

they are tall

if I remember correctly. Remember, the wall height is set for football, so the dugout roof just goes on top of the wall. Around the dugout they have extension of plush seats, making the wall lower

probably to offset

the distance it takes to get from top of the football wall to the 3-5 foot baseball wall. It can’t be much bigger than modern day dugouts though

He had the same thing happen in 2004 — a bunch of throwing errors from 3B because he was trying to play with a sore arm.

BTW, the reason he gave up pitching after HS was because his arm didn’t recover very well after pitching — so having arm problems from time to time is not new for him.
