Dempster sees great things for Cubs
NYT profiles Dempster the magician, pitcher, and Cub. Pretty fun article for one of the funnest Cubs in a long time. :-)

Great Story!
Thanks for posting it.
The critical thing to understand is that major-league pitchers don't appear to have the ability to prevent hits on balls in play. There are many possible reasons why this is the case, and I don't really have a concrete idea as to why it is.
But the one thing I do know is that it is the case.

Great article, but
This quote is a little unnerving:
"I hope he stays, because his decision will impact other people’s decisions on whether they want to play here — because they enjoy being around him so much," DeRosa said. "He’s one of the driving forces behind our chemistry. To take him out of the clubhouse would cause a huge rift."

Sounds like a good way to make an extra couple million in negotiations
I’m sure Hendry is aware that Dempster is a popular guy and will do everything he can to keep him here.

Is Hendry in the last year of his deal too?

So
Do the Cubs have to make decision on him before they can go after free agents?
