Pregame Ticket Sales

Im looking to go to the Sunday, August 24th game against the Nats (1:20 start).  Ive heard that the team has 500 tickets that they sell on gameday in the box office.  Does anyone have any advice on what time i would have to get there to get tickets?  Also, even though I know there is a ticket resale thread where people post in,  but is anyone willing to sell their tickets for that day?  Thanks in advance.. Eamus Catuli!

1) I didn’t know Al hired a moderator.
2) If this isn’t post-worthy, why’d you click, read and comment?
3) Which category of fanshot would be most appropriate: link, quote, image, video, list or chat? (I don’t think any).
4) I think this is a fine topic for a fanpost and may spark a spirited discussion re: game day ticket sales.

I agree with this.

I would appreciate it if people in general didn’t do this.

Now, let me answer the question. There are SOME tickets put on sale for each game the day of the game, about 1000 standing room tickets and SOME seats, depending on how many are claimed from employees and players and how many are returned from the Cubs’ quasi-legal ticket scalping operation.

About a month ago they changed the procedure for buying these tickets — you now have to go in right after buying them, which helps get them out of the hands of street scalpers.

Good luck!

(And yes, this was a good topic for a FanPost.)

Also

These tickets go on sale 3 hours before the game, when the doors open. They no longer go on sale when the box office opens at 8AM.

Whoops, thanks

It’s actually hard to find that info. My wife’s family was in town and tried to do this, and couldn’t get straight answers about it when they called.

Why thank you Al...

A little off topic, but.........

What time will the bleacher enterance open on Friday (for the 1:20 start) and Saturday (for the 12:05 start)? Thanks.

Gates open

For all games 2 hours before the start of the game.

Perhaps getting ahead of myself.......

…but, does the day of game ticket release get altered for the Playoffs. I know they usually sell standing room only tickets for the Playoffs during the internet only 5 minute free-for-all. In the past, have there been any day of playoff game ticket releases?

by PJA on Aug 18, 2008 1:29 PM CDT reply actions

Not usually.

You can try the box office windows, if they’re open, but I doubt it.

And one more question..

It has been said 3 hours before gametime, making it 10:20. Would there be a line already formed to the extent that if I arrive at 10:20, Im not gonna be able to get a ticket? Anybody have a clue?

From my experience

when I went about two weeks ago, it was a 12:05 start and I got to the line at 8:50am and hardly anyone was there. They didn’t end up selling the tickets until around 9:20am or so and there were no bleacher tickets available, but otherwise a pretty good selection. At that point the line was pretty long. I would assume the later the start time, the more likely the line will be long when they start selling.

Once I bought the tickets, I had to go sit in a waiting area until the doors opened at 10am.

Another question in general....

I’ve been to one game this year – Sunday night vs the White Sox. The bleacher enterance was crazy. I got in the bleachers line 2 hrs before the start and it was halfway up Addison already and took over an hour to get in and by that time most of the lower section was filled. Never seen it that long that early. Are all games like that this year or was that was that only b/c of it being a night game and b/c it was against the Sox??

It was like that during the Cardinal series.

Both of those, of course, had a lot of fans of the opposing team. This weekend isn’t likely to be like that. The Nats … well, I doubt they have a lot of fans traveling with the team.

The Nats?

I dunno. Their attendance has been decent this year, but that’s probably New Ballpark Syndrome.

Question: Sept. 1 - 3 (Astros)

At what time should I be at the park to get a good bleacher seat?

by Fraggin Judge on Aug 18, 2008 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

On Sept. 1...

… probably by 12:15 or so (3:05 start), as it’s Labor Day and most people have the day off.

For the night games on 9/2 and 9/3, not so much. If you’re there by 5 or even 5:30, you shouldn’t have too much trouble.
