OK, This is my rant for tonight: Why is DeRo batting 8th?

Lou’s excuse for not batting him #2 is that he is good at driving in runs. Dome isn’t getting on base, so who is DeRo going to drive in?

Let Dome bat 8th if he’s just going to play for his glove.

Lou is managing the team with the best record in MLB....

the offense is at or near the top of just about every offensive catagory…I trust him.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

by santoswoodenlegs on Aug 19, 2008 7:15 PM CDT up reply actions

Sorry, I'm just sick of seeing him screw DeRo every chance he gets.

I wish DeRo would complain once in a while, just so that Lou would stop treating him like a dog.

What the hell are you talking about? Screw DeRo? Treating him like a dog?

Kinda over the top…if you ask me. And you didn’t.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

by santoswoodenlegs on Aug 19, 2008 7:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Why does he always have to move?

Why not have utility players that, you know, are utile. Starters should have a set position. He was promised 2B, and that promise didn’t last 3 weeks.

DeRo has said that he doesn’t like playing OF. Why was he playing OF when Sori was hurt and Murton was anchoring the bench? Why not just play him at 2B and let him be a productive 2B?

"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007

by DeRoMyHero on Aug 19, 2008 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions

dunno if I'd say it was to

screw him. DeRosa is just that guy where, well, he’s gotta go somewhere. Lou knows he can put him almost anywhere.

Dood plays MLB baseball for the best team in the MLB. I don’t think he thinks he’s getting screwed.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Aug 19, 2008 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions

DeRo has a 1.095 OPS for Aug.

Dome has a .429 — yes, that is his OPS for Aug.

Why should a hot hitter who is a fastball hitter be batting 8th where he won’t see a fastball, while a guy who is batting like a pitcher (actually, Harden’s OPS is higher for Aug.) gets “protected”?

"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007

by DeRoMyHero on Aug 19, 2008 7:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Because Lou

knows that DeRo can make lemonade from lemons, and Dome needs more opportunities?

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Aug 19, 2008 7:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Then you might as well bat DeRo 9th.

I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it!

by brownbuddha on Aug 19, 2008 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

that would give Sori

RBI opportunities.

There’s only nine spots to bat. I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t think DeRosa would suggest that he’s unahppy with batting 8th. He’s batting all over the order, and doing very well.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Aug 19, 2008 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Actually, I heard him on one interview

(right after the ASB) say “I hope I’m not the one who’s batting eighth”. It’s just like the OF: DeRo doesn’t like it, but he will do it without complaint. That’s why he gets walked on by Lou.

"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007

by DeRoMyHero on Aug 19, 2008 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions

DeRosa is just about my favorite player

I know he’d love to bat 2nd or 5th. But it’s his ability to go anywhere and bat anywhere that makes him so valuable, and if that’s what it takes to get some rings here in Wrigley, then by all means, bat him 8th.

It’s not a demotion. It’s spreading your offense out over the entire lineup.

If Brenly mentions one more time

how great it is that Dome hasn’t let his awful offensive performance (I seriously can’t remember the last time he came through with a a) clutch RBI hit 2) two-out RBI hit) affect his fielding I will lose it. No one cares. Reed Johnson would do just fine out there, and maybe actually get a hit now and then.
