People were getting away with putting MLB videos on youtube by spelling the names and such backwards
MLB caught on over the weekend. They are just out of control about that stuff. I love watching the NBA and NFL highlights people make on youtube, MLB should wake up and get with the times, but I guess we all already know that.

Get it while it's hot!
I believe there are a number of Wilco fans here on BCB. I was messing around on YouTube last night and came across this clip of them singing the stretch on 8/3/08. They do a serviceable job – not exactly bringing the brash rowdiness of “Casino Queen” nor the spiritual uplift of “What Light,” but getting the job done nonetheless.
The clip also includes the full Len & Bob interview in the bottom half of the seventh. And that means you can enjoy some free game video, including a DLee single (YEAH!) and a Dome GIDP (groan…). Like I said, get it while it’s hot. If either MLB or WGN catches a glimpse of the clip, it will vanish like a Carlos Marmol slider.
Oh, and thanks to StexRaider for posting this on YouTube.

Did you make the concert in millenium park last year?
Sorry folks, parks closed. Moose out front should have told you.

No, I haven't seen them live in a while.
I saw them at the Riv on the “Being There” tour. And I saw Tweedy and Jay Bennett perform as a duo at the Old Town Folk School festival one year. Unfortunately, I don’t get out to shows much anymore. Still love the band, though.

I don't get to many as well...
but did make one of their 5 shows this winter and the one in the park last year. The millenium park show was one of the most amazing things I ever saw. Cool night in August with fog (sort of like U2 at Red Rocks) and they put a poll on their web site for fans to vote on their favorte songs.
They then played the favorites. 12 months later and I am still in awe.

I was watching this game...
with no knowledge that they would be singing. When Len said something in the 6th inning about it, I was floored. Went and got the VHS tape (I don’t have a dvr) that I’ve taped previous Wilco performances on (Austin City Limits, SNL). My wife, who was 9 months pregnant at the time and on bed rest, asked what was going on. When I told her that the stars were aligning like never before in my life, she questioned me further. My response of “Wilco is singing the 7th inning stretch!” did not impress upon her the seriousness of the moment. If only Tweedy were a Cubs fan! At least he did mention that his kids were Cubs fans. Rarely in life do you have two of your unrelated passions meet in one place.

I had a similar experience.
I was driving when I heard Pat and Ron announce that they’d be interviewing John Stirrat. I was all like…huh, wha? Then, even though I’d reached my destination, I actually sat in my car and waited to hear them sing.
And, yeah, it was little disheartening to hear Tweedy admit that he grew up a Cards fan. Then again, he did choose to live and base his band in Chicago. And now that he’s been captured on national TV in a Cubs shirt, I think it’s safe to say he’s ours.
