What kind of moron

Bats Soto in front of the pitcher?

by Old Style & Ivy on Aug 20, 2008 9:51 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I had a thought about this...

I wonder if Lou is trying to create a top four in the order with a cleanup hitter and a bottom four with a second cleanup hitter just before the pitcher.

Not saying I like the lineup, but I wonder if that’s what he’s going for.

Bottom of 4th Was A Killer

1st and 3rd, no outs, and they don’t score. Sheeeesh.

I understand DOME plays great defense . . .

But do you think we’d lose much with Reed Johnson in right? And if not, why not give Fukudome an extended rest . . . like two or three games

On the positive side

Tonight’s game sucked but
1) Our bullpen wasn’t taxed
2) Can still take the series with a W tomorrow
3) Still have a 5 game lead

Fair enough

I agree. While I hate the fact that we lost to what I consider an inferior team – you gotta tip your cap to Dusty and the Reds. Their pitchers were just good enough to win, and we didn’t do enough right to win.

Fortunately, we have Z going today, and hopefully we’ll get the dominant Z who shuts the Reds down and gives us the series win.

Now that the Minor League Recap is on the main page....

…it seems redundant to put it in the Recommended Fanposts. Can this be changed?

I asked about that.

For some reason the site is set up that way. I’ve put in a request for a feature to drop those posts from the rec list when they’re put on the front page. Until that’s done it has to stay the way it is.

Z's Arm Slot

I’ll be at work so I’m relying on the game thread tomorrow to hear your reports on Z’s arm slotting. Hopefully those side sessions will pay off and he’ll mow down the Reds.

I am not holding my breath.

The guy is a headcase, and he has proven to be in his 7 big league seasons. Absolutely no reason why he should not give up more than 2 runs. Then again, he is Z, so I would not be surprised if he gave up 10.

Helps to explain why he is not a top tier pitcher. Just a notch below.

by Chilliwack on Aug 20, 2008 10:31 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

August seems to be

a difficult month for Z every year. I’m sure he’ll rebound and get back to his Ace form soon.

by sue369 on Aug 20, 2008 10:38 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

oh, shut up

All he’s proven to be in his 7 big league seasons is a strong, durable horse and anchor of the Cubs pitching staff. The man has a couple bad starts in a row and it’s because he’s a headcase. Please, gimme a break.

Sorry to be a nervous nelly

But even with a large lead in the division, you gotta sweep lowly teams like Cincy.

When a guy like Bronson Arroyo throws a gem against you, in your own park, anyone can do it.

Was probably 3 years ago or so that Josh Fogg owned the Cubs. I believe he finished the 2005 season against the Cubs something like 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA. He is God-awful now, but again, if Arroyo can do it, why not Fogg?

I can understand a turd performance against Cincy in Cincy, but not at home.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.
