OT: Friend's Son Injuried in Iraq

this hits close. My thoughts are with him, his family and friends, and any others affected by war.

Are with this young man. This war is a nasty business and I am VERY thankful for our brave men and women who make this world a safer place.

It’s a shame these things happen.

My prayers go out to him.

Best wishes to him during his recovery and to you and the rest of his friends and family on dealing with this horrific news.

The prayers and best wishes of myself and my family go out to him. I was lucky enough to make it though a tour in Afghanistan unscathed and, when my name is called for Iraq (the way my luck goes, probably in the near future) I hope to do the same there. Please keep all those that are still stuck in that sandbox in your prayers and keep looking forward to a quick and safe return of everyone we have over there.

I hope his injuries turn out to be not as severe as it sounds and he recovers.

I’ve been watching a mini-series on HBO about war…kinda like a “Band of Brothers” for my generation – and it’s been fascinating to see the loyalty and dedication and heart these men and women have over there halfway around the world. I’ve gotten teary-eyed a few times. Reminds me of your story. You’re in my thoughts.

This is kind of ironic as this week I got news about a friend of our family who was injured that I asked prayers for a couple of years ago and he made a good recovery after initially it looked pretty grim. He’s engaged to be married.

He has my thanks for sacrificing so much for this country.

Come home safe, all of you over there…

We Americans owe a debt to our brave soldiers which can never be repaid. They are the best of us, courageous and proud, and I pray God bestows on them the blessing of His grace. Let us all pray for not only their safe return, but for victory—victory for our country, for Iraq and Afghanistan, and mostly victory for freedom.

Without starting a political discussion…this pisses me off.

My prayers to him and everyone else over there. Fortunately the one person I knew over there is home safe and sound.

American Hero. God Bless Him and his family. May he heal quickly and not losse his eyesight. Please keep us updated on his progress and again, know we are praying up a storm for him.

Say what anyone may about the politics that got them there, I regularly pray for those abroad serving our country in those hellish places .. and when my own nephew up and joined the Army four months ago, my prayer life got a whole lot more in earnest.

Two weeks ago, I came home from his graduation from basic at Ft. Leonard Wood on what was surely the hottest day I think I’ve ever experienced in the Midwest. That was the day after the huge storms that shut down the Cubs game in Chicago. It was 103 degrees there .. and watching him in full dress uniform, bathed in sweat, march to the auditorium put a huge, huge lump in my throat . That’s actually a pretty cool day in Iraq, which is very likely will he ultimately may be deployed as a combat engineer – facing down IED’s.

I saw the baby I once held in my arms and rocked to sleep and the boy who dove for salamanders in the Tennessee mountain lake I took him to and the proud young, buff track star that he now is all at once .. and when I embraced him, I felt an even greater strength in him that makes me fearful, sad, joyous and proud all at once. I wish he hadn’t gone, but now that he is there, he’s got my 110% support .. as do all of our people in arms there. I now have on my car a yellow ribbon remembering him and the others that I didn’t have before ..

God richly visit, bless and heal Drew and all the others .. grace be upon him .. Keep us advised, SWL ..

Pray and hope for a fast recovery. These men and woman that serve, especially the soldiers who are on the ground, who know the dangers that is in front of them, are true patriots and hero’s
