It's the continued re-branding of WGN America...
Premiere Radio Networks’ "The Bob & Tom Show" becomes the latest radio show to extend its brand to TV. Beginning Nov. 3, Tribune’s WGN America cable channel will air a daily, one-hour, late night best-of version of that day’s syndicated radio morning show. It’s the first original programming created by the recently rebranded cable channel, which reaches 72 million homes and enjoys a massive footprint in the Midwest, where Indianapolis-based Bob & Tom’s enjoy their greatest ratings success.
This is from the trade publication "Radio & Records."

Watching radio
on TV has never seemed like fun to me.

It'll be interesting
to see how their radio talents translate to the tv. Living in Indianapolis, I’ve always listened to them, and I think if the shows focuses on their guests (comedians and the like), it’ll be ok.

WGN is also making
overtures to Jay Leno, once his time is up an NBC. That is, if he lives up to what he said he was going to do — turning the ‘Tonight ’ show over to Conan O’ Brian

WGN wants Leno?
For what?
And he HAS to live up to his deal, basically because NBC is going to make him — they have a deal with O’Brien that says he has to take over the Tonight Show.

Tribco has approached Leno for a late-night talk show....when his contract expires.
I have read that Leno is trying to push the deal back — he’s really not ready to go and his ‘people’ are trying to convince NBC — “He’s beating Letterman. Why would you want to change horses? This benefits everybody….”
And, if somehow this gambit works, you have a pissed-off O’Brien — repeating NBC talk show history, when Letterman was not able to take the “Tonight” chair.
In any event, Tribco is going full-force to place WGN America in the cable stratosphere of TBS, TNT, A & E, and USA. It’s going to take time to create some original programming. Even if the Leno concept doesn’t happen, it’s a message that Tribco is a serious player in the ‘network’ biz.

Interesting.
Maybe it’s just me, but I just don’t see the big whoop about Conan O’Brien.

SOme of the stats I need to see. Howard Stern was also a lot better to watch than just to listen.
