Nats Broadcasts did a big thing about it after his last swing

They mentioned the trainer came out…showed a replay how he had an awkward swing going after a low and away pitch and hurt something. And came out to the field still bothered by it.

Nope

Even though the farm team was called the Expos even after the team moved to Washington, the Montreal Expos never really had a fan base in Vermont.

I'm assuming Lou's

trying to give him every chance to get his **** together and start hitting before he sits him

by DWChaney on Aug 23, 2008 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions

do you think the Cubs face pressure to play

Fukudome on the weekends due to Japanese tourists that have booked groups to Wrigley?

…to at least play him one of the two days? Just wondering. I am not sure if there are any big groups that do come to Wrigley, but if a modest sized group does come all the way from Japan, that is not cheap.

I can't imagine

making out his lineup based on something like that. It has to be in his mind, though, that he is an expensive player to stick on the bench.

"Any old kind of a run wins it!"--Jack Brickhouse

by mattvegas on Aug 23, 2008 2:26 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm just saying ...

if he was only going to play him one of the three days this weekend, he would choose Saturday or Sunday, if there is nothing special about match ups, to keep the tourists happy.

In the end, the Cubs are a business too. So there is no doubt that he wants to work Kosuke into the lineup as best he can to try to get him out of his slump, but also to try to keep his marketing value high. That is my only point.

Could it be that he’s hurt and not telling anyone? The seemingly endless downward slope just doesn’t seem natural.
