The last couple of nights...

I woke up with the “Go Cubs Go” song pulsing thru my brain at 4:00 in the morning! Took me a half hour to get it out of my head and go back to sleep!

This season is just too crazy indeed!

Their starting pitching, outside of Hamels, hasn’t been impressive. Though Myers has been throwing better, as of late.

33 Over For 1st Time Since '45

I can’t believe the Cubs are 33 games over .500 for the first time since the year we dropped the bomb on Japan. Let me revise my win expectation for this club upward once again to 99. That would mean the Cubs would have to go 16-13 the rest of the way with a tough schedule to finish 99-63.

but I would be kind of disappointed now if we didn’t get to 100 wins…I think 17-12 is VERY do-able…Am i getting too far ahead of myself? Maybe…Or maybe I just have a lot of confidence in this team…

from carroll:

Will Carroll: Oh that … Zambrano is back in the dropped elbow arm slot that he was just after his DL stint, but it slowly came up. The worst I saw it was in the ASG. He’s slinging it — some see it as pushing — and while he can get good velocity, he loses control and movement. The question is why is the slot dropping – pain? weakness? lack of focus? The team has a month to figure it out and make sure it doesn’t get worse. Without Zambrano starting Game 1 of any series, the Cubs are in trouble.

by brian custer on Aug 27, 2008 2:23 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed he needs to figure it out

disagree that the Cubs are in trouble without Z as the game one starter.

Harden-Dempster-Zambrano would be a fine first round rotation in my book.

by SuperContext on Aug 27, 2008 2:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i think that

god forbid Big Z runs into arm trouble; samardzija could step right up as a starter

by brian custer on Aug 27, 2008 2:40 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

That would be a lot of pressure...

…to put on a rookie who just came up from the minors this year. I would think Sean Marshall would get a rotation slot until the postseason.

Heads up on MLBTV

They supposedly have a 5 day trial going right now. The site says that you have 5 days to cancel without being charged. I signed up this morning to watch the game here at work. Well, I just checked my bank account and I was already charged the $19.95. I have now been on the phone to India for 15min to try to get my money back. Funny how they take it right away but I wont get it back for 10-15 business days…

Either way, I just wanted to let all of my fellow Cubs fans know about this before you sign up for this "Trial Offer". Just know what to expect.

They charged it

Just got off the phone with them after 35min. 32 of which were spent on hold. Hardly seems worth it in the long run. I had it recording on DVR at home too with IE. I knew that a free Cubs game from MLB was too good to be true :(

They are just playing the float game

They move the money into their account right away and they earn some interest from day one. If you cancel, they give back your 19.95 but not the interest they earned on it.

Best thing about today's game for me...

…was how good it was to see the Cubs showing that they’re capable of playing “smallball” and manufacturing runs when they come up against a tough (for today anyway) pitcher.

The way they handlde the seventh inning today gives me hope for when they’ll be running up against stud pitchers in a short playoff series.

Cubs By The Numbers

Cubs By The Numbers is a history of the ballclub by uniform number, but the biographies help trace the history of our beloved team in a new way. For everyone who's a Cubs fan, anyone who ever wore the uniform is like family. Cubs By The Numbers reintroduces readers to some of their long-lost ancestors, even ones they think they already know.
