I'll be in and out all game
I’m running our season-opening volleyball tournament here, today. 6 volleyball games in 2 days – I don’t know if I’ll make it.
I love to play baseball. I'm a baseball player. I've always been a baseball player. I'm still a baseball player. That's who I am. - Ryne Sandberg

Stay away from Pedro Feliz?
Pedro Feliz can’t hit, and I don’t care what 10 at-bats from years ago have to say about it.
guess hack drunks! lol jk

Gameday says it was

sometimes the umps will wait, especially if it's close to foul territory

less chance for fans to interfere
If a ball bounces out of the basket and lands on the field...
…it can cause issues. It’s also harder to see than the yellow lines at other parks.
that what I was thinking
in the basket = homerun
off the basket = not a homerun (just like hitting it off the wall)
over the basket and in the stands…well, that is self explanatory…

would have been interesting to see if he was called out if it fell foul

Yeah, I think "starting for the Cubs'" was supposed to correct his previous statement
that Z was starting for the Phillies. But I agree, it did sound like he meant what you said. (If you get what I mean :-))
Z reading the lineup
…makes DeRosa sound Latino. He’s like the bizarro Jon Miller.

There's no reason to make a pitcher work just to make him work.
If you get pitches to hit, then hit them. What you want to encourage is not swinging at pitches you can’t drive. Theriot, for example, squared up the ball as well as Ryan Theriot can, and it just found a defender.
"Get a pitch to hit."
Thus sadeth Ted Williams.

i think it is so funny that espn and big media outlets
made such a huge deal of the bad call yesterday, even though it was a make up call from ealier, im not saying that makes it right, but they could show when howard obstructed lee at first too

i would have to check, but
is lilly’s delivery similar to ex-cub kenny holtzman?
holtzman hid the ball behind his back a bit, but similar

Stockton:
“Fukudome has seen his numbers plummet the last five months.” Huh? We are still in the fifth month of the season,
nice to see dome bunting for a hit
especially when it works
If he can do it a little more...
…he can make infields play in on him a bit and maybe get a few more holes for him to hit ground balls through. It’s a weapon he should use more often, given his speed, bunting skill and lack of power.
Dome's Bunt
Phillies must have loved the call after yesterday.

Why show the bunt?
Just bunt it, don’t have to show it.

Fox have been talking about how great the cubs are the whole game
When do they start talking about the Phillies? I’d like to learn more about them.
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.
I feel for Phillies fans
Would really like to see them edge out the Mets. Would be rooting for them if they weren’t playing the Cubs.

It is still possible
After the Mets late season swoon late year, you never know.

I really like the idea behind hot zones...
…but I really wish they’d use something better than just batting average. Slugging percentage, maybe?
Does anyone have batting tee HOT ZONE numbers on Rollins?

Sabermagicians have shown how irrelevant BA can be
But isn’t the Hot Zone one application that is actually suited to using BA?
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.
Let's say you have a guy that is able to take pitches on the outside corner...
…and slap them in for singles at a decent clip, say .333. Then you’ve got the heart of the plate, where he hits deep fly balls, and for every four fly balls three get caught on the warning track and one leaves for a home run.
Where would you rather pitch him at in a key situation?
Depends on how many outs and baserunners, and the score
but I see what you mean.
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.
Dicky is losing it day by day.
He got excited by a shallow fly ball of Myers’ bat. Sounded like he thought it would go.
sounded like he thought it was goinginto lake michigan

I'm a vendor and don't get to watch games all that often,
but does Lilly always pitch inside this much. He is feasting on the inner portion of the plate. I have heard he is one of the biggest inside pitchers in the fame, but I haven’t really seen him do it.
Has anyone ever seen Charlie Manuel smile? He's always frowning.
Seems to have the grumpy old man syndrome like Bobby Cox.
A-Ram or A-Rod?
After wathcing another A-Rod GDIP highlight, I’m wondering (hypothetically) if Cubs would take him even up for A-Ram?

Lee better avoid hitting one here.
Ugh....
I just got home from running around…. as i know brigthhouse in Orlando said the Cubs/Phillys were on….. I get home and turn on the TV and i find the Rays game!!! WTF????
Thats a very bad tease! Don’t show me the game in the guide, let me plan my whole day around me trusting Brighthouse…
Ugh..
I've never seen Theriot hit a single to RF. Ever.
Not that I’m complaining. Good going, Riot. Now don’t steal.

I don't really care.
He’s so poor at it that he shouldn’t be trying; his failures outweigh his successes.
but he did make it
maybe he had a good scouting report on the pitcher/catcher. calm down
