I don't like catchers who throw to first on a strikeout.

Hopefully he can get through the 7th without giving up any more.

i'd call this a deceptively alarming series

We mustered NOTHING against any of the 3 SP we have faced in this series. I wouldn’t get too excited about loading up on relievers, most of whom are of a quality we would not face in the playoffs. This team is not going to be able to get by with sucking eggs against quality SP and hoping they can put some runs together in the late part of the game.

by BeltwayCubsFan on Aug 30, 2008 4:52 PM CDT reply actions

What about the 4 game set against the Brewers

When we dominated Sheets and beat CC? Can’t you just accept the fact that they’re humans and don’t hit perfect every game?

We’ve stepped it up when we had to and won 2 games in this series which is fine with me.

by cubsfaninatl on Aug 30, 2008 4:57 PM CDT up reply actions

I have to disagree

I think that we have gained alot with this series, since we’ve gone toe to toe with one of the best NL pitchers and wore him down to a suspect bullpen. (Think Milwaukee)

I seem to think that the Cubs have a 2 wins against Philly, if anyone should be sounding alarms its them

Ok, so you're telling me that this Phillies bullpen isn't the quality we will face in the playoffs?

They are a playoff contending team. So are the Brewers. I would wager that the Brewers bullpen is a lot… suckier (for the lack of a better term) than the Phils’. This IS a bullpen we might see in the playoffs.

But Who HAS Good Relievers

of the potential playoff teams? Milwaukee? Mets? LA? Honestly those bullpens don’t scare me either.

What’s the concept of a double swtich.

I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to most things about baseball but I never really understood it….

DeRosa: And who is the best and who is the worst card player?

Dempster: I think the best is yourself. [ . . .] I think the worst player is D-Lee. I think he bets every time just to bet.

Ahhh....

So if Lou pulls Theriot, for example, and replaces him with Ronny then Ronny would come up to bat in Lilly’s spot in the order….

correct?

You know what?

I’m really starting to jump on the cwyers bandwagon with Ryan Theriot. Slowly but surely.

Cwyers Is Jealous

He wishes he was as popular with the ladies as The Riot.

LOL

I think is what started me was the CS compared to his SB. The shaky defense and arm — and the COMPLETE lack of any sort of power.

Question:

Should we worry about The Riot, as far as his deficiencies costing us in the playoffs?

But Gonzalez was actually good on defense. That play didn’t represent how good of a defender he was.
