OT- Gustav
looks like it's headed right for us.
i have evacuated to about an hour outside of new orleans.
the cops use the place where i live as a staging ground for NOPD and the Fire Dept so I had to be out by friday. I'm not sure how long we'll be without power or internet. i'll try to update this once or twice a day.
anyways keep us in your thoughts and go cubbies.

Best wishes, Carlos
On the Sunday just before Katrina hit, I was at Wrigley for the ceremony retiring Sandberg’s number. I had left before Katrina took its left turn toward Louisiana, so my family ended up evacuating without me. It’s surreal watching the game today and following the storm track. I’m glad to be living in Illinois now, but our thoughts are with everyone on the Gulf Coast.
Stay safe.

Certainly a dangerous situation in the Gulf right now
Satellite photos of Gustav are very impressive, and as someone who studies how our atmosphere works I can tell you, Im afraid this is going to be a Katrina 2 or worse.
Please If you are in this region and are in the path of this dangerous system please please please leave now!

Out of NOLA for now...
My wife and I evacuated yesterday to a friend’s house. We left at a good time as traffic was much worse earlier today. Good thing is that 95 percent of the Louisiana coast has evacuated. Nobody is playing games this time around.

Good luck...
and god bless. I went from Destin, Fl to Jackson, MS today. The exodus was huge. Hopefully everyone fares well. By the way, did anyone see those Idiots with Cantore on the weather channel? They are going to ride out the storm on the boat.

It is calm here. (Jackson, MS)
But, my old roomate from college lives in Gulfport, and he says it’s getting pretty rough down there.

Hope all wil be well with you. We watch hurricane coverage closely when it affects New Orleans because my brother lives in Jefferson Parish. He’s not there right now, of course, because he always leaves when the evacuations are still voluntary. He’s in Oklahoma staying with friends right now. I just hope things won’t be as bad as Katrina.
