I think 2003 Prior has to go into consideration too.

I mean, based purely on performance, Harden is the best most of us have EVER seen (remember – we didn’t have Maddux in his prime). But let’s let him keep doing it.

is avg. about 13 pithches an inning- 5th would 64, 6th would 77, 7th would be 90… might go longer since he will have 6 days rest next start

I mean.....he had 8 Ks and 1 BB. He just had some hits fall, and the second

HR came when someone was on….basically what I am saying is, when you have 8 Ks and a single walk (to the last batter), there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. If they were unlucky and hit to our guys, we would be discussing another dominant start by Harden. I’m guessing he actually just was throwing too much in the zone today, with the ridiculous strike/ball ratio.

If he always kept the ball down as well as he had in his previous Cubs starts,

then I think he’d be pretty much at an all-time great talent level. When you have a strikeout pitcher with ridiculous stuff, you’re going to have days where too many pitches are left up. He’ll be fine. Still has one of the lowest ERAs in the league by far.

uh...

we’ve had this conversation before, right?

Don’t call the game before it’s over. Don’t call tomorrow’s game before it even frakking starts.

’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)

ughh get howry out or we will no longer be winning after this inning

"This is why Major League Baseball does not need instant replay, because then every single play will then be reviewed." -- Joe Morgan, 5/18/08, referring to an umpire ruling a Carlos Delgado homerun foul when replays showed it hit the foul pole.

Well he went out to the mound before they pitched to him

Assuming to tell Howry to not give in….apparently Howry didn’t quite do that

i deteste howry too

but hindsight is 20/20. If howry would have gotten out of that we’d probably all say that howry and lou were geniuses. We still got some time left in the game…so let’s see how it works out.
