I had to get out of the Marquis "hate" fest
New thread, new start, let’s score some runs.
"Every team will win 60 games, every team will lose 60 games, it's what the team does in the other 42 games that decides the season."
Agreed . . .
Anybody up for a “No Marquis Bashing Rule” for this thread? We all know he sucks . . . let’s just focus on positive thinking
I am in a meeting
’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic. Crash Davis

I don't hate him.
I’d just love to see him playing for the Yankees or Orioles.

marquis starts with the ball behind his back then moves it into his glove in front of him. he then changes grips while bringing the glove down into his set position. watch closely and tell me what difference there is between his changeup, fastball, and sinker!! watch closely!!

Howry won a game yesterday
he’s being bashed more than ever….just sayin..
"Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball." - Jacque Barzun
D-Lee hits a lot of fly balls to right field. You think he is afraid
to pull the ball with a runner on first or are they just pitching him away all of the time?

So our options are:
1) Derrek Lee is afraid of hitting baseballs.
2) Other teams have video of hitters and know when there are baserunners on.
Hrm. Tough choice.
Rami walks
Edmonds up
Current temperature in hell: 45 degrees F - and falling!
I recognize that JM is the #5 starter,
but boy, you have to think that Marshall gives you a better chance to regularly win the #5 game as a starter than Marquis. Is it a contract or experience thing? I have a hard time believing that Lou honestly thinks Marquis is a better pitcher than Marshall.
Go Green! Go White! GO STATE! (#13031 on the Cubs season ticket waiting list...)
I think Lou has wanted rid of Marquis for a while.
And, FWIW, Marquis is headed to the bullpen after this start – Cubs are going with a 4-man rotation due to the number of off days ahead.
The Cubs will be on a normal rest schedule...
...so it’s not like they’ll be pitching Harden on short rest.
Can we trade Marquis and Howry
for the newly released player, Scott Eyre?
Go All In and Enjoy The Ride.
Eyre hasn't been released yet.
The Cubs have seven days to trade him before they have to either release him or send him to the minors. Eyre can refuse an optional assignment.
Well Turn that frown upside down
This is the Blue Skies thread! Seriously though, it’s early, we’ll be fine.
Go All In and Enjoy The Ride.
