Web Gem: Ross Gload
A crazy play that robbed Jason Bay of a HR.
Question: how come it's a double and not an out?

It's a double
because no one caught it. Gload just deflected it from going out.

I see, is that why catching a ball of the outfield wall is not considered a catch? (ala the green monster?)

Yea
Since it’s in the field of play, technically it’s the same thing as catching a ball on a bounce.

Wow, that's crazy.
Imagine if the right fielder deflected the ball and it rolled all the way atop the wall to the left fielder. That would be wild, man, wild.

The best part of that clip
