Luis Montanez Homers In First ML At-Bat

No, I'm not making this up. Former Cub #1 draft pick Montanez (2000 was the year he was drafted) was recalled yesterday by the Orioles, for whom he was playing at Double-A Bowie this year (with 26 HR and 97 RBI in 451 AB).

He got into yesterday's game as a defensive replacement. And today they started him in LF and he homered in the third inning in his first ML at-bat. On the second pitch he saw.

Unbelievable.

good on Luis.

He spent 9 years in the minor leagues and hung in there. I’m glad he’s getting a chance and making the most of it.

I agree

good luck for the guy, Hope at least one Cub can stick with the O’s. If there is a team tha he could win a starting job its the O’s.

Wow

I realize it’s double A, but his minor league numbers this year are pretty amazing.

Good for him

I have no ill will for him, but I also am not too worried about him becoming a superstar – or even a ML regular.
