South Shore Line....

I'm about to use the south shore line for the first time, all the way from South Bend.  I'm familiar with where to go after I get into town (regular Metra user) but I was wondering what everyone thought about the south shore line itself.  Any advice both coming in, and going out on the last train that goes the whole distance (7:10pm I believe)...

I know it's a long ride at 2.5 hours, but for $11 one way the price can't be beat.   Just fishing for general info on what to expect.  I assume there's a bathroom or they'd have drunks hanging their junk out the windows....

my experience was not that at all

it was on time and a fun trip. It was for my batchelor party and we left on the first train that morning from the south bend airport and was able to drink all the way to chicago. It is a bit of a ride, but worth the not having to worry about parking hassle. On the way back teh next morning was rough as it was mothers day and it was packed the whole way.. some people had to stand for awhile… and having a packed train with a major hangover was not the best experience but I would definetly do it again… now amtrak is never on time and will never ever ride an amtrak train again

The southshore from South Bend is fine

there is a bathroom, but I’ve never used it.

Take a book or your iPod and just relax.

I think it’s just his face. - dat cubfan daver
