I've seen nothing different from this offense tonight

Other than a little more patience at the plate, same terrible situational hitting. The Cardinals bailed us out one inning with bad defense but its more useless Derek lee and company. They are tempting fate again leaving so many runners on base.

that's a load of crap

Why don’t you look back at my posts and you will see how wrong you are. I have been highly effusive of the entire pitching staff, have never bashed Lou as so many do on this board, and only take issue with the offense – Dome in particular.

And as for “showing up when we play badly?” We are winning. What qualifies as showing up when we don’t play badly? When we are winning 20-0? Perhaps you read the posts you want ot read.

give me a break

how about reading my posts rather than making generalizations. You will find many positive comments about the pitching staff and Pinella. Whatever, I’m done posting here. I think my insights – while admittedly skewing negative – are accurate for the most part, but apparently it is sunshine pumpers allowed only here, so best of luck to the posters who pushed me out. I thought that unless you insult other posters would you run into issues, but apparently making factual statements about the team is enough to be attacked. Best of luck with rest of season.

The offense is just horrible.

I hope that Lilly can make this hold up. But tonight’s runs were largely unearned. A lousy performance from the bats.

but they are winning so I am happy

I guess I am easy to please

WINNING.

By default, that can’t be “horrible”. Not producing as much as we might like, true.

But we’re winning.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Sep 10, 2008 9:42 PM CDT up reply actions

It's not even by our own efforts.

A bunch of unearned runs and no extra base hits = horrible offensive night. At the same time, the pitching has been just great.

What is the deal with the pollyanna patrol around here? Honest assessment does not equal disloyalty.

by Madison Cub Fan on Sep 10, 2008 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions

That is completely Lilly's doing.

An “average” performance from our starter – even a “good” performance, and we’d be trailing – especially without the gift runs from the Cardinals.

They need to make this hold up. Either way, the offense will be upset with their failure to execute.

by D98 on Sep 10, 2008 9:47 PM CDT up reply actions

SO WHAT?

we’re WINNING.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Sep 10, 2008 9:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I would have to say...

a good performance is less than 3 runs. So we would be winning.

Repeating it = bitching.

We know how you feel. Repeating it isn’t going to change things.

by sue369 on Sep 10, 2008 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions

What's honest

about complaining when we’re winning???

We’ve gotten some good hits, we’re showing patience at the plate. No, we don’t have 15 runs. You know what? I’m ok with that, because, when we score a ton one day, we tend to be shut out the next.

I’m FINE winning this game 4-1, if that’s what happens. So what if it took errors on the other side? That’s why you play the game.

Top of the ninth, and WE ARE WINNING.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Sep 10, 2008 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Well they still capitalized when they were given opportunities.

Something they have NOT been doing the past week. Couple clutch hits, even if they were singles. OH and we’ve been successful moving runners, unlike last night.

by zm1217 on Sep 10, 2008 9:42 PM CDT up reply actions

We've scored in 1 inning.

We’ve advanced runners with sac bunts, only to see doubleplays and consecutive strikeouts.

We’re lucky that the Cards defense failed. And fortunate that our starting pitching has been so good.

by D98 on Sep 10, 2008 9:45 PM CDT up reply actions

that's what good teams do.

Win when it’s not expected.

why are you watching them? To have something to complain about?
