Let's get the Magic Number to 13!

who’s the random Cubs numbered 13?

The next two weeks

I can only watch TWO Cubs games…yikes. Less Comcast, more WGN!

Looking at the score, Lilly has been fantastic. Things are looking good thus far, just for the love of god don’t put Howry in. I don’t know Lilly’s pitch count, so I don’t know if he can go all 9.

Yeah, but the Cubs are under .500 on WGN

and something like 51-19 on Comcast. Get thee to a bar or somewhere to see the Comcast games.

I doubt any of the bars would be showing it. Plus the whole under 21 thing.

Nah. The best bet would be the bowling alley

Which has a ton of TV’s, but they usually seem to keep all of them on one or two games. I bet if I went there right now, most of the TV’s would be either Tigers or whatever national game was on.

You couldnt be more wrong

I remember the game where Cole Hamels pitched at Wrigley in August, where he was crusing through 7 innings. And he ran out of gas after something like 95 pitches.

It happens. This is why bullpens down the stretch are so vital to playoff worthy teams

No one hurt me.....

Ryan Ludwick and Pujols are on my fantasy team.

I would never want to win at the expense of a Cubs loss but maybe that rough 9th inning will kick Wood into gear.

It goes in the right column and it comes at a good time. The W represents an incremental achievement in route to the ultimate cub fan and player destination.

We will not be denied this achievement any longer. God will not stand for it. His will be done.

Now roll up some shirts and kick some ass and show your opponents that if you want some real estate, like home plate, you are just going to knock his ass out of the way whether he wants to you have it or not….

You are going to lay off the low outside sliders and quit trying to pull them which results in a 5-4-3 DP. No you’re going to go with the zen flow of the pitched ball and doop a little single just in front of the right fielder whose playing too deep.

We are not going to leave our players stranded on base at the end of an inning. they are going to score or get put out on steals or hit and runs or delayed steals or double steals or whatever it takes to manufacture some runs. And we are going to win two/thirds of our remaining games.

And untimately, we will leave a path of pain, disappointment and broken bats over the course of eleven lost games for our series of opponents to contemplate over the winter.

step up to the plate and drive the ball somewhere (or at least hit SAC flies) with runners out there poised to score.

RESET

Lilly pitched a gem. Some fresh blood in the lineup did wonders.

I just looked at the standings, and I would be happy about where we are, except for the drama this last week and a half. Let’s pretend that we woke up here, and play the rest of them like we’re starting over. Good practice for the playoffs.

Ought to be fun. Theodore Roosevelt Lilly the 3rd ROCKS !
I think as a reward he should bat 8th next time and if I were Jason Kendell I would think twice about blocking the plate if I see him coming at me.

Just need to post this somewhere

Joe Morgan closed his chat on ESPN.com today with the following: “We’ll have to cut it a bit short today—I’m at an automobile dealership school. Talk to you all on Tuesday!” huh???

by philadelphiacub on Sep 10, 2008 10:41 PM CDT reply actions

that indeed is strange

my question is what were you doing listening to a morgan chat?

a legitimate question indeed

actually just read the transcript on the espn site while waiting on the wrap for tonite’s Cubs game. There’s always a stoo-pid quote by Mr Morgan in those chats, and he’s certainly not the type of dude I’d buy a car from
