BAN THE CUBS TONIGHT!!!

Ok, this is not about ledge jumping, or jumping off the bandwagon.  This is about taking a break, spending time with the ones we love, reminding ourselves of the other things in life that we lose sight of.  It is a long season and lately it has been nothing short of unbearable.  For our sanity and possibly a change of luck.  Do something different tonight.  Check the final score before you go to bed and if they won, pump that fist in the air, and if they lost, well you saved yourself the agony of seeing it happen.  Good Luck.  I'm suggesting this out of love, because we all know how much this hurts.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Isnt that what off days are for?

I’m doing nothing tonight but watchin the cubs start their turnaround. It begins tonight, enough is enough.

Ron Santo should sing TMOTTBG everyday. Period.

I have a good feeling about tonight

I still believe...

We are in for something special this year and this is a blip (albeit big one right now) on the radar. I’m watching everything I can, next thing you know baseball will be over and I’ll be stuck watching the Bears get pasted every Sunday.

Everytime...

I say, “Forget this! I’m not watching tonight!”… I end up running back to the TV and checking in for “just a second”, and then I end up watching the rest of the game. Being a Cubs fan is like being in a relationship; you fight, you break up, and then you go running back when you miss them.

"Remember each day this year, where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, how you felt as the Cubs win their way through it. Because if this does turn out to be the promised land we have all been waiting for, you will want to remember, savor, cherish every moment..."

me too

I usually can’t go to sleep unless I know the final score. I can’t remember the number of times I have turned the west coast games off, only to find myself unable to fall asleep, so I stay up way later than I should to watch them

I'm with everybody else here...

Ban the Cubs tonight? No can do. They are going to turn it around and when they do, it will be big time. This Cubs team still has not peaked. I’m gonna be there when they do, watching & enjoying.

I'm sure a dope fiend would love to quit too.

But like the fiend… I can’t.

I think "banning" our team is another way to say:

“Jump off the bandwagon!!”

Thanks, but hell no.

that is not what i am saying at all...........

trust me, I’ve been on this creaky old wagon for 20 years now, watching those late sept games at Wrigley with the team 22 games out. I’m just saying, for those of you who like me are just getting miserable lately tuning in with expectations and seeing the crap we have, why not just take a break for a night. I’ll go it alone I guess.

I think I'm more likely

to ban my loved ones than the Cubs tonight.

Does anyone else see Soriano picking his nose?

I am going to actually try to WATCH THE GAME

I never watch whole games unless I am at them and even then I read the paper in the scary parts. At home I channel surf other games and the ESPN ticker even though I have E.I. I am thinking of actually TRYING to watch a whole game tonight. I doubt I can but I will try as my version of slump buster.

You just gave me an idea

Normally I TIVO the game but sometimes, like last night, I sneak a peek at what is happening.

Tonight, I am either going to TIVO it and wait until tomorrow morning to watch even one second, or I am going to just forget about TIVOing and watch the thing live.

I think the second option might be more of a slump buster, because when it is TIVOed, I get nervous and start fast-forwarding like mad at the tense, nerve-wracking parts.

I am headed to St. Louis soon

And will be there in person… so not much chance for me to skip tonight. The wife and I discussed not going last night (mostly due to my anger) and decided that we were going to make the trip. Hoping I will be cheering the Cubs as they start their hot streak to close out the season!

Way back... outta here!!!

I'm going to US Trinidad and Tobago

I’ll be checking frequently via my Iphone. I think my girlfriend will enjoy one night away from the Cubs after last night’s game.

I'll be watching...

… because my loved one will be watching. However, if they lose, he’s sleeping on the couch tonight!

I'll be right here

and watching the Cubs. Please try and leave all the drama out of the game threads tonight.

I can't do that...

… but I do know I’ll be listening to at least part of it on the radio, which I rarely do, because I have to be out at gametime.

Last time I listened to any significant portion of a game in the car, Daryle Ward hit the gamewinner in Florida.

Heh

I was listening in my car that night as well.

Almost got a DUICM when Ward hit the homer (Driving Under the Influence of Cubs Mania).

Not going to happen.

As much as I am hating this period, I love this team.

Go Cubs, lets get them tonight.

and Lou, lets move runners, hit and run.

WIN!!!!!!

I only boycott

them when they are a bad team. They are a good team this year and I haven’t had the need to not watch them intentionally. I’ve boycotted the in 05-06 but not this year.

Someday we'll go all the way.

I'm with you!

Extraordinary measures are called for! I’m manning-up, pussing-out, and will watch the thing my TiVo dutifully recorded if Our Team can hold on & win.

I’ve done more idiotic things for Them before!

Peace out!
Go Cubs!
