An Invitation to Mr. Selig

Al, I am disappointed that Selig isn’t reading BCB. If he did he would have read my post Hurricane IKE from Sept. 8th and had all contingency plans worked out for the Astro’s series!

If he does check out BCB after I sent him the link, here’s note to him. This is confidential so please do not read…..

Hey Bud, what the hell are you thinking? Since your domicile is in Bratville, I’ll give ya a few pointers about ‘canes you may not be aware of. Having been through my fair share of them, I will give ya a little insight. First, RUN!!! It is prudent to get away from a high probability strike zone which can bring several feet of surge, loss of power for up to 2-3 weeks, trees down for miles and roofs with blue tarps are far as the eye can see.

But, if you feel confident that bringing folks into this potential scenario would maybe work out, then here’s a checklist of what you should bring with ya: Gas, propane, bottled water, ice, food, batteries, flashlights, generators, chain saws and cold beer. These are items that are in high demand for some reason immediately after 110 mile and hour winds come through….and after 50 tornadoes spin off in every direction.

So, on behalf of all the fans, we’d like to invite you to throw out the first pitch!

Can’t wait to see ya Bud!!

If ya'll see anything I left off the list of supplies for Bud....just add it on here

Bud, don't forget____________________

Ordinarily, I'd have suggested putting this in the "MLB needs to step up" post.

But I like this enough on its own merits.

Someone with a brain has to step up and tell MLB to stay away from Houston this weekend.

MLB phone

If you want to bug them about it, here’s the phone number (in New York, be prepared for the time difference and toll charges) 212-931-7800.

I just got off of the phone with a nice woman at MLB who insisted that fans don’t understand that this is a logistics nightmare. I replied that a lot of people could get hurt. She responded that they have had no plan are are starting from scratch, and must get everything lined up before they make an announcement. I asked if they are considering relocating the games, and got the same line about how complicated this is. I figure she’s not the one to yell at about how stupid doing this at the last minute is, since they’ve known this could happen for at least a week, but maybe I shoulda yelled. I’m not exactly a yeller, though, and mentioned the safety issue again before thanking her and hanging up. Anyway, a bit more pressure couldn’t hurt.

by helen on Sep 11, 2008 2:54 PM CDT reply actions

Cheers for sharing.

Good of you not to yell; she’s just a messanger after all. I imagine this truly is a logistical nightmare, but it’s something MLB should have been preparing for before today.

Agreed.

As noted, we’ve been talking about this for a week here. Why haven’t the powers that be done the same?

AL, come on

This is my last post on this Blog…..I cannot believe that posters like an idiot calling himself santoswoodenlegs is even allowed to publish. My goodness. His very name is incredible offensive to true Cubs fans. This is an incredible timely, important issue that can effect the rotation, rest, multiple games etc, The ridiculous responses from those without any mature brain pan leaves me one final statement…………..

I am out of here.

GO CUBBIES>>>>

You're out of here? Good.

To make a statement that “true Cub fans” find something incredibly offensive is egotistical. So you have the market on what a true fan is, or feels, or finds offensive? I think not. SWL understands the ramifications- I’m sure of that.

Try developing a sense of humor. Until then… good riddance.

hey jimmy.......

I don’t think that anyone has to have the market cornered to find the name santoswoodlegs offensive to a Cubs fan., or is egotistical. I think that it is LOYALTY>>>>>and not just being a smart ass, cut your car off in traffic,,,,,post hot chick pictures IDIOT> Nice to know he has relatives. Why don’t you take your own poll.

Well buddy boy...

I’m saying that I am a true Cub fan, and I don’t find his screen name offensive. I also think that Ronny would probably not find it offensive as well. It has nothing to do with loyalty, as you suggest. So you don’t like the pics of hot women? Too bad, don’t look at them. SWL has shown his loyalty on this site, and he likes to poke fun, and deal in levity to keep the mood light. Don’t like it? Ignore it.

Or…

Why don’t you do what you said you were going to do, and just leave.

You can't respond in an intelligent manner...

You have to call me names… If you think you are the only one who understands the ramifications of two or three cancelled, postponed, games; you are mistaken.

You said you were offended and tired of the idiocy. You also said that you were going to leave. If you were so offended, you would have never responded to me. Spare me the fake outrage from a “true” Cub fan. You just want attention.

by MN exile on Sep 11, 2008 6:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Leave it to Bud...

He’s known all week that this storm is heading right towards Houston, yet he sits on his hands and does nothing. Now, it’s too late to move it to a neutral site. Even if they play a game Sunday- there will be likely be hardly anyone there- because of the evacuation in Houston. More so, with the storm likely to blanket Houston/Galveston, who’s to say that they will even be able to play a game Sunday or Monday?

It should have been moved to a neutral site at the least two days ago… So, either Selig is an idiot & the worst commish ever, or it’s a conspiracy. I’m hoping that the Brewers get swept in their 4 game series in Philly, and then they will be so out of it, the games vs. the Cubs that they have left will mean nothing.

Bud Selig must go. Save MLB, fire Selig!!

Hey jimmy, or timmy or whatever....

The name is offensive. Hot chicks are great…….go to hotchicks.com. Your last post about Selig is a cognitive, responsive point which is what I hope would be posted here. It is apparant you defend the undefensible. I don’t believe that # 10 would find it amusing. But, I will ask him at fantasy camp next year.

Do that...

I’m quite sure that Ronny knows he has two wooden, (composite), legs. He even has Cub logos all over them. If you are offended, fine. If you think that I defend the indefensible, then I have a lot of company.

SWL is a valued poster here.

My name is Jimmy. My nephew is Timmy. Stop with the weak insults.
