Tempers flared in the bottom of the eighth after the last out of the inning. Doug Mientkiewicz and Aaron Miles began exchanging heated words at second base moments after Mientkiewicz swatted the ball from Miles’ hands on a potential double play. Soon after, both benches and bullpens poured onto the field.

it appeared no punches were thrown, but three Cardinals had to hold back pitcher Ron Villone, who was ejected, from coming after Mientkiewicz.

though I am not a hater. I am glad that he is hitting so far in this game. That he took a ball the other way FINALLY is great to see. I hope that it continues. Maybe the time off did him some good. Maybe the hitting coach finally noticed/got it through to him. However, if he suddenly strands five people on base later, I am not going to be a jerk and “Call DLEE lovers out of the woodwork”. Let’s keep the focus on the game and the issues, not starting fights, eh?

College football discussion:

Thoughts from this weekend:

—Michigan sucks, and it gives me warm fuzzies
—Not sure how I feel about the OSU stomping…I’d like them to have a high ranking when Wisco demoralizes them in a few weeks
—KU played a great game (offensively…) agasinst USF, but couldn’t hang on
—Conversely, Wisco played the exact game they needed to – even after getting SCREWED on the worst overturned call in Badger history – to beat a very, very, very good Fresno State team.

That’s all I got for now…other thoughts, BCBers?

Cubs By The Numbers

Cubs By The Numbers is a history of the ballclub by uniform number, but the biographies help trace the history of our beloved team in a new way. For everyone who's a Cubs fan, anyone who ever wore the uniform is like family. Cubs By The Numbers reintroduces readers to some of their long-lost ancestors, even ones they think they already know.
