The Astros Fear The Cubs Nation
"I'm definitely not happy with it," (Houston Astros manager Cecil) Cooper said. "It's bigger than me, I guess. You want to play in your home ballpark. It's a bit of a disadvantage. They've got the fans there that can drive up [from Chicago]. But what else can you do?"
I just thought you'd like a friendly reminder thanks to Mr. Cooper. I'm sorry that he won't have half his tribe there, but by golly jingle, I know the Nation will be there .. and he knows it and it's a fly in his ointment.
As a member of the Cubs Nation, I just LOVE it when I hear stuff like this. We are the 10th man on the squad .. the disadvantage to the opposition .. the roar in their head they can't shake away .. and that just gives me a big lump in my old throat .. How I wish I could be there to see it all go down!
Do some hollering for me, gang.
and Wave your W flags AFTER WE WIN ..
GO CUBBIES!

I can't stand the term
“Cubs Nation”
Sorry. That’s all I can add to this post.

Why Not?
The Cubs have a national following

Do any of us REALLY want to be like either the Raiders or Red Sox?
Although, now that you mention it….maybe we could copy Oakland and cordon off a section of right field for people in body paint, masks, and assorted S&M gear?

I guess I have to agree.
Let the others have the exploding scoreboards, the waves, the game arcades in the stadiums, the freaks sliding down slides, fireworks, and the “Nation” designations. The Cubs are baseball as its finest: the neighborhood ballpark, sunshine, fan participation, history, and all that is good with the world :-)

+1
I agree. I think there should be a much better marketable term to refer to us, Cubs fans.

How about...
…The Confederacy of Cub-Cheering Persons?

Well done...
I’d be behind that one. I’d even wear a t-shirt to next Saturday against the Cards, but people might not realize who I’m rooting for from the abbreviation :)

I agree,
it’s more like a lifestyle, religion or culture which goes beyond national boundaries…. Go Cubbies Go. Milton is driving up with my other brother so it should be a great crowd for the Cubbies in Wrigley North!

They fear us so much...
…that they have won the season series so far and just swept us at home.
I’m sure they are trembling…
Let my ashes blow in a beautiful snow from the prevailing 30 mile an hour southwest wind...
When my last remains go flying over the left field wall, I'll bid the bleacher bums adieu,
And I will come to my final resting place, out on Waveland Avenue. --Steve Goodman

Too much bad taste from Mariotti....
…if he hadn’t used it so much I’d agree.

too bad, blame your organization
for not coming up with a contingency plan before the Hurricane hit, that way you could have played in Atlanta or DC

Though any neutral site ballpark outside of Texas or St. Louis
would probably have more Cub fans than ’Stros fans.

The Astros gambled on being able to play in Houston and they lost the bet...
..boo,hoo..Selig gets to make a little bit of money with some more games in his stadium.

Berkman must be paranoid
Maybe baseball is out to get him. But, his comment that there must be something else to moving the games to Milwaukee was odd. Chicago just happens to be close to a domed stadium that was available. The metrodome was host to two football games this weekend. Tampa Bay had college football this weekend, and baseball on Monday. With weather issues all over the country you had to pick a place both teams could get to. I can’t remember but I think that just leaves the Skydome and Bank One which were never mentioned at all, so I assume they were in use already. It pretty much was a no brainer, which fits Bud Selig.

There was no excuse for any Astro or their family ....
to have to “ride” that storm out. I cannot believe that nobody in that organization isn’t from the SE US or the Carribean Islands……
And all thougts and prayers are with those in SE Texas….in many ways today and tomorrow will be worse than the storm itself….but have faith and patience….things will slowly start gettting back to normal.
The best defense is a good offense

Oh, come on.
Isn’t it just words? The late great George Carlin said, “Words don’t kill; people do.” I am proud to be of the Cubs Nation.
