Sights and Sounds of Z's No-Hitter
Here's a place for folks to post and sound/video/pics etc from Z's no-hitter! I've been working on pulling Pat and Ron's call of the game, but only have this rough clip to share from WGN's post game recap. Rather large (23MB) WAV file, will try to condense into web-friendly MP3.
More to come shortly, hopefully including WGN video with Len and Bob's call. Feel free to share anything you have! Sorry if this is duplicative or in the wrong place, just wanted to make sure everyone sees it.
GO CUBS!! CONGRATS BIG Z!!!!

Wow, that was incredibly fast.
Gotta love YouTube. Awesome.

Wow, thanks for collecting those
For those of us who couldn’t see or hear it.

On my way back to Madison after witnessing history...
Anyone got Len and Bob’s call? What a game…
Ron Santo should sing TMOTTBG everyday. Period.
Thanks for posting!

I will go out on a limb
I think this game has a big chance of being repeated on ESPN Classic this week and will most certainly be added to the DVD Set of Cub Legends.
It'll probably be posted on iTunes, too.

Len and Bob
doesn’t look like MLBTV is archiving Len and Bob’s call. So we’ll have to get it from a replay or something?
"Bruce Froemming screwed me out of a perfect game"
It’s refreshing to hear Milt Pappas say this – absolutely correct, of course, but usually the players use weasel words.
Every time Pappas talks about his no hitter...
…he calls Froemming his “fat friend.” I love it.

Am I the only one sick and tired of Pappas' complaining about that?
I don’t hear “it was a strike” or “he blew the call”.
What I consistently hear from Pappas is, “it was a perfect game… he could have given me that pitch” or “nobody would have said anything” if Froemming gave him the pitch.
Get the heck over it Milt. Never have I heard so much b-itching about a no-no in my life. He’s made a cottage industry of this supposed “wrong”.

Cool vantage point.
I love these “from the fan’s view” type of clips. That little girl’s stunned expression is priceless. Thanks!

I love how Pat never says “no-hitter.”
When you're eight games behind, it's like eight miles; when you're eight games in front, it's like eight inches. ~ Ron Santo
Exactly.
He tells you that one’s going on without saying that — saying “Z hasn’t allowed a base hit.” Simple and elegant.
"That's my opinion and if you don't like it, well, I have others." ~ Groucho Marx
Honestly
I got nervous after Len said “no-hitter” in the 7th and 8th…
Yeah, Pat and Ron were talking about it...
…a lot during the game, which was making me pretty nervous throughout. All’s well that ends well, though.

I wrote an eyewitness account
It is over here-
the money quote:
To say we all felt chills is not sufficient- we all felt a sub-absolute-zero-3rd-degree-simultaneous-climax. People were crying, singing, most of all cheering and screaming. I grabbed a stranger and shook the living crap outta him.
