WGN replay of Carlos Zambrano's no-hitter is Friday at 10pm (CT), BUT...

The replay of Carlos Zambrano’s no-hitter is scheduled on WGN-TV9 this Friday at 10pm (CT).

BUT, it is NOT scheduled on WGN America. It is scheduled Friday on WGN-TV9 ONLY.

So Cubs Nation, those of us outside of the Chicagoland area need to make our voices heard. Start the email and phone call lobbying to the station program manager NOW to ask for it to be replayed on WGN America too.

Viewer contact to station program managers speaks LOUDLY folks. Have at it, and remember, be polite. Programmers deal with calls from a lot of people who have lined their apartment ceilings with aluminum foil to keep the gamma rays and alien listening devices at bay. (seriously...)

To clarify, the replay is not yet reflected on the WGN America online broadcast schedule.

I’m trying to confirm that they intend to put it on WGN America too. I’ll let folks know as soon as I speak with someone at WGN America…

I spoke with a WGN America staffer who said...

“They are in a meeting now about that…”. So perhaps we’ll have an answer shortly. Keep your fingers crossed…

Didn't get a chance to send yet

but since it seems like it will be on nationally, I don’t have to. I totally would have, though.

I emailed Robert Feder...

This will be shown both locally AND nationally via WGN America, so no worries there!

That’s great news.

I was able to record ESPNs broadcast of the ninth, but I really wanted the whole game.

Does anyone know

if I can buy the No hit game and download it to my computer? I know you used to buy individual games but I couldnt figure out how to do it for Sunday’s game. Can anyone help me out?

by dlee25 on Sep 16, 2008 1:14 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The game will be available through itunes soon.

The day we lose our will to fight - Is the day we lose our Freedom.

by sanantonecub on Sep 16, 2008 1:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The game is already available for purchase...

on ITunes…. $1.99.

Curiously though… it doesn’t say in the description whether it’s the FSN Houston feed (which is the one MLB.tv archived) or the WGN feed that you’re buying.

by MillsChC on Sep 16, 2008 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

search "2008 MLB Games"

Somewhere on the screen you should see “MLB.com Games of the Year, 2008”. Click that… and the games will be listed at the bottom… they’re listed by date, so scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll see the last one entitled “Big Z’s No-Hitter”

by MillsChC on Sep 16, 2008 1:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No prob....If you purchase it...

let us know which TV feed it is

by MillsChC on Sep 16, 2008 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm downloading it now.

It’s the Cubs feed. You can tell from the free preview of it.

Typical TV show from itunes

Fullscreen of course, I would say about 640×480 or so.

yeah

itunes sucks for watching videos (at least in windows) and i’m not going to watch it on my ipod, so not really worth it.

not to mention the DRM.

by nathew on Sep 16, 2008 9:43 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

They didn't broadcast in HD

So this SD feed is the best you’ll get, unless as I hope they recorded the broadcast in HD locally and will rebroadcast it Friday in real HD.

by McCarron on Sep 16, 2008 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i don't think they'll broadcast in hd

Len Kasper said that since the game was shortnotice, they didn’t have time to bring in the hd equipment. I watched the game on local WGN and this was the case as well. So the feed no matter what they do will be in standard definition, sadly.

Will be on WGN

WGN e-mailed me that the replay would indeed be nationwide. Here is the e-mail.

Steve:

“As our website states, ESPN’s agreement with Major League Baseball prohibited us from carrying the game nationally last Sunday night but we will carry an encore Friday at 10:00 p.m. Central.
Thanks for writing.

Awesome

DVR Set.

I wonder, even though I’ll probably watch on Saturday, are we going to get a BCB live thread for the re-air? Since this is the first time that most will have gotten to see the game?

And if the Cubs win tomorrow

the Suds play in Cincinnati tomorrow night, and that game figures to end around 9pm…

Consider the possibilities.

If the Cubs clinch tonight

could the Big Z no-hitter be pre-emted by WGN’s coverage of the clinch?

… I think I’ll open a Brewers/Reds discussion thread in the FanPost section late this afternoon.

Not to bog things down, but a lot of us didn’t get to watch Z’s no-hitter teh first time, like MrNFL pointed out…
