I wonder if this umpire crew has a particularly small and/or inconsistent strike zone.

(FWIW, IMO, this is the worst crew in MLB. The Tschida crew is the best. It figures that MLB would send its worst crew to work a series with huge playoff implications…)

How can any crew with CB Bucknor and Joe West on it even be considered passable?

Rapuano is the only good ump in the crew. Having a CC as bad as Joe West guarantees a bad crew.

Remember in August when he was playing great defense at 2B?

He was playing almost exclusively 2B. He’s been shuffled around most in July and September. Those have been his worst months offensively and his worst defensively (along with April).

DeRosa's value is linked to his versatility.

If he was just a RF, or just a 2B, he’d be less valuable to the team. He just needs to make that play. He’s done it a million times.
