Season Ticket Feedback Forum

I received an e-mail yesterday inviting me to the next season ticket holder's "Feedback Forum" at Wrigley.

Timing is Wednesday, September 10th at noon.

Of course I'll be in St. Louis catching the second game of the series between the Cubs and Cards.

The Cubs have a knack for scheduling things like this, at least for me.  I missed out on my audition for the "7th Inning Stretch" last year because I was in St. Louis the day they scheduled my performance.

Guess I gotta stop catching games on the road if I'm going to participate in events here at home.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

I didn't get an invite

And it’s weird, because I received an invite to the first luncheon but none of the others.

Why is that weird?

I don’t think they’re going to invite anyone to more than one.

Because they said the luncheon was full

When I RSVP’d “YES”, they said that the luncheon was full and that they’d send me invites for other luncheons later in the summer.

Oh, I get it now.

Odd, then, that you haven’t gotten another one.

I was invited back in June,

…but didn’t go. I think they serve lunch, but not sure what else is discussed, etc. I would like to hear from someone who has attended one.

I dug up the official letter sent to me:

Dear Mr. Davidson,
The 2008 season is off to a great start. As I write this, the Cubs are in first place in the National
League Central and boast the second-best record in baseball. We have a long way to go, but
Manager Lou Piniella is leading a team of veterans and newcomers who are focused on having a
championship season. Since the end of the 2006 season, we’ve made some dramatic changes to
our organization and the results are rewarding for all of us. It’s truly an exciting time to be part of
our team and we thank you for your support.
As part of our effort to continue making our team and ballpark better, I am happy to introduce a
new program open only to Cubs season ticket holders. "Tell it to the Cubs" is a new opportunity
for you to join me and a small group of other season ticket holders for lunch at Wrigley Field to
discuss issues surrounding the club, our ballpark, our neighborhood and beyond. We will select a
small group of season ticket holders each month from among those who express interest.
As an organization, our obligation to you is to field a championship team, maintain the 94-yearold
Friendly Confines and preserve the Wrigley Field experience. We can accomplish these goals
and believe our decision-making will be improved with input from our fans. We plan to keep
each group small so we can have an open and active discussion.
If participating in an upcoming "Tell it to the Cubs" lunch interests you, please e-mail
fanfeedback@cubs.com with "Tell it to the Cubs" in the subject line. We will select the first
group and let those selected know the date of their lunch. The lunch, by the way, is on me.
If you haven’t already done so, please also provide your updated email address to us at
cubsseasontickets@cubs.com. Your email address is the most efficient way to communicate with
you regarding Cubs news and in-season updates, including changes in game times.
Thank you again for supporting the Chicago Cubs. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing
you at the ballpark. Go Cubs!
Sincerely,
Crane Kenney
Chairman

All season ticket holders got that letter.

It was just to express interest. Then people were selected from those who responded.

Is this a one shot deal or will you get invited to the next one?

I don’t know what the Cubs’ cancellation policy is on things like this, but the cynic in me tells me that they’d say “Sorry, Charlie. You had your chance. End of the line for you….”

But the optimist in me has me thinking that if you send them a note, include a copy of your ticket as proof of your diehardedness, they might recognize that as an “excused” absence, and put you at the top of the list for the next forum.

Can’t hurt…

I've already RSVPed.............

……………outlining my conflict and expressing my interest in attending the next session. Problem is, with the season drawing to a close, I’m not sure there will be a “next session”.

If there is another opportunity I’m hopeful they will re-invite me to the event.

I went.

about 80 people showed. You sit in the stands and people line up and ask questions to Crane Kenney and crew. You get free lunch. I got a goody bag filled with Cubs giveaways, etc. Not a terrible way to spend 2 hours, but nothing spectacular.

So what's the outcome of any of these?

I would guess it’s been posted before and I perhaps just missed it…?
