Songs for the Cubs

Besides the songs actually written about and for the Cubs what are some good songs for this season, the team or individual players.

My ideas

Season

"These are the Days" by Van Morrison

"Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now" this is the song I thought of when Soto hit the homerun on Thursday,

"High Hopes" by Frank Sinatra

"The Best is Yet to Come" By Frank Sinatra

Players

"Holding Out for A Hero" For Geovany Soto.

"The Red Baron" for Ryan Dempster the greatest redheaded pitcher since Sutcliffe.

"Back in the Saddle Again" For Kerry Wood

"Fly Me to the Moon" or "A Whole New World" for Lou and Hendry.

"Mr. Lee" For Derrek Lee

"Me and You a Two Man Crew" for the tandem of Lee and Ramirez.

Team

"Heroes and Friends"  about the team and experience going to Wrigley with friends.

Believe by Staind

They played it during the outro highlights on Comcast after that big Milwaukee game Thursday. The words go perfect with this season, and Aaron Lewis’ voice is awesome.

Believe in me
I know you’ve waited for so long
Believe in me
Sometimes the weak become the strong
Believe in me
This life is not always what it seems
Believe in me
’Cause I was made for chasing dreams

"Remember each day this year, where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, how you felt as the Cubs win their way through it. Because if this does turn out to be the promised land we have all been waiting for, you will want to remember, savor, cherish every moment..."

pumpkins - tonight tonight

a) billy corgan is a huge cubs fan.. and there are references to chicago in the song

Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe that life can change
That youre not stuck in vain
Were not the same, were different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

And you know youre never sure
But youre sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe in the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe theres not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

Well crucify the insincere tonight
Well make things right, well feel it all tonight
Well find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight

my stuff is filthy

I Believe

A little Bon Jovi for the sake of Mark DeRosa, and one of my favorite songs by the band!

It's a toss up between...

…“I believe I can fly” from that Air jordan movie, or “Don’t stop Believing’” by Journey.

Spiritualized - Soul on Fire
You were born on a black day
Shot through with starlight
And all the angels singing
Just about got it right

Cut through the silver
And goodness did heaven know
I don’t know where we’re going
But darling bless your soul

Baby, set my soul on fire.
I’ve got two little arms to hold on tight and I want to take you higher.
Baby, never should say never.
I’ve got a hurricane inside my veins and I want to stay forever.

Sweetheart, may not be easy
But we’re trying hard to hold on
Trying to make it better
Sweetheart, got so much freedom
But freedom is just another word
When you’ve no-one left to hurt.
and i said

Baby, set my soul on fire.
I’ve got two little arms to hold on tight and I want to take you higher.
Baby, never should say never.
I’ve got a hurricane inside my veins and I want to stay forever.

Baby, set my soul on fire.
I’ve got two little arms to hold on tight and I want to take you higher.
Baby, never should say never.
I’ve got a hurricane inside my veins and I want to stay forever.

I’ve got two little arms to hold on tight and I want to stay forever.

I’ve got a hurricane inside my veins and I want to stay forever.

I hope someday to cut it to a video of just shots of young Cubs fans at Wrigley, along with video about the 2008 Cubs set to White Whale’s “One Prayer”.

The original video is here.
