MLB Fails To Deliver NLDS Postseason Passwords

Anyone else effected by the MLB failing to deliver the post season passwords?  I got the email last night saying I won, and a password would be delivered today.

Yet I'm sitting here constantly checking my email, and I have yet to see a password and tickets for the Cubs went on sale 3 minutes ago.

I contacted both the MLB and Cubs ticketing offices.  Cubs were no help, and the MLB is going to 'call me back' as they say it's a 'nationwide' problem.

I have a password entry page open, but no password to enter.  Thanks a lot MLB!

really?

wow, i got my password, but can’t get into the VWR portion!

Is the password not something generic?

Also what address did it come from so I can double check search my mail

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 12:12 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

came from "cubs.com"

with an address of feedback@lists.mlb.com

and it’s a bunch of random letters and numbers

by Canseco's Roid Party on Sep 23, 2008 12:13 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Thanks

I figured it’d be a real password, the woman at the Cubs desk asked me to get it from someone else. I told her that wasn’t a smart idea, since they should be 1 to 1. She was then like “ohh yeah”

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 12:14 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

wow. amazing. of course, i don't expect MLB to employ geniuses....

so I’m guessing everyone in your situation is just sitting at the password screen, and it isn’t letting many other people through? it is pretty messed up right now it seems.

by Canseco's Roid Party on Sep 23, 2008 12:17 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah exactly

The last email I have gotten from feedback@lists.mlb.com was the announcement that I was picked to win.

Success? Anyone?

by flachimesa on Sep 23, 2008 12:21 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

alright! success. got 2 for game 1 in bleachers- sec 314.

seems like they were running out of 2 together though, there weren’t a whole lot left for game 1 and game 2 i first had 2 bleachers then accidentally closed the window! which i thought might be a disaster as it may not let me back in….but the passwords only are disabled after you BUY so that is good, but i am in with 2 for game 1, and feel great now that i thought i had blown my chance by closing the window…but came back and am now Ticketed. might be not a whole lot w/2 together left though, as game 2 had only SRO’s in 2s when i checked before deciding on Game 1.
There were still singles in nearly every section however, you just cant get two singles apart from each other (or i couldnt figure out how)

by Canseco's Roid Party on Sep 23, 2008 12:43 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Congrats

Bleachers are reserved for the playoffs? Not first come first served?

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 12:45 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

There are actually numbers...

printed on the bleachers for that reason. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with fire code and whatnot.

On a personal note, those numbers are clearly from 1914 because they are spaced so close together they must have been conceived in a non fast-food big sweaty guy world. When I went to the Cubs-Marlins series, my friend and I had two numbers but actually sat about 3/4 a number over because the guys on the end were fairly big. It shifted the whole bleacher and it was a tight fit the whole game.

by CubFan81 on Sep 23, 2008 1:13 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah I'm in, just no password.

MLB is investigating… sadly I know that means I’m out of luck.

As part of the FannieMae/FreddieMac/AIG bailout...

all senior corp. executives of those companies get first priority in MLB postseason ticket purchases. It’s only fair.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

I just called again

And the MLB is blaming The Cubs! Saying their supervisors have been dealing with it all day and waiting for a fix from the Cubs. Told me I can’t talk to a supervisor because of that, and that if I was told they’d call me back, that they would in fact call me back.

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 12:21 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah this isn't going well.

No one is taking the blame either, MLB says it’s the Cubs, the Cubs say it’s the MLB problem.

And am now sitting in the Virtual Waiting Room. Nightmares of March all over again.

by AndrewJStone on Sep 23, 2008 12:34 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Great Luck!

Got 2 in the bleachers for game 2! Section 301, somehow, magically came open after “best available” gave me only Standing Room for several attempts.

I was debating the merits of SRO vs Game One, and clicked one more time while i pondered!

Good things are happening.

Ill take your tickets and deal with MLB and the Cubs, and eventually get the password if you really dont want to deal with their crap… Ill take them off your hands for ya! No problemo!

by cozmotaylor123 on Sep 23, 2008 12:41 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah the password in a special password

No way anyone could guess one.

The Cubs agent I just talked to said the emails went out in the morning, but told me to try to find someone at the MLBAM group because they are the only ones who can help.

I would recommend anyone without a password to call the MLB at 866-800-1275, option 3. Get on their list of people for the supervisor to call back.

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 12:44 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Is it one of those super long passwords or a short, random combo of numbers and digits?

Had no trouble

I got my password in an email at 7:37 CT this morning. I sat in a virtual waiting room for about 5 minutes and then was able to purchase 2 tickets to Game 2 of the NLDS. I was surprised the best available were Section 508: Row 2, but I took what I could get

i still have a password window open right now-

Curious what the delivery options are?

Obviously – Will Call.
What about Fed Ex home delivery? Print at home? Anything other than Will Call?

BELIEVE!

by cubbie08 on Sep 23, 2008 12:53 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

there appears to be no Will Call actually.

print at home, and FedEx. Had to go with print at home to be safe, as it said at least that FedEx requires signature. Would have liked the hard tickets but FedEx is 13 bucks more+ short time window to get the tickets, so I’m not going to chance it as being home to sign is difficult.

by Canseco's Roid Party on Sep 23, 2008 12:56 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Personally, I think I'd pick FedEx

given the nature of my past relationships with printers.

by hip2bsquare on Sep 23, 2008 1:00 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So much for believing what MLB posted
Name and address used for entry must match name and address used at time of purchase and must also match name and address presented for pickup of tickets. A valid photo ID and a credit card matching the one used to purchase the tickets will each be required to pick up tickets.

My printer can’t ask for a valid ID!

Nor would the FedEx guy, methinks.

They can still check against the password the credit card.

So I hope they do, because if I’m going to lose out to getting NLDS tickets at-least give the tickets to fans and not scalpers.

by McCarron on Sep 23, 2008 1:06 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

My concern was registering family members and friends who are nowhere near Chicago

and could not pick up tickets at Will Call.

I can get them to purchase on their credit cards and pay them back.

by flachimesa on Sep 23, 2008 1:09 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It Actually Is Accurate

If you want to pick up the tickets, you need the credit card. (Never mind there apparently is no option to do so.)

If you want to print them at home, you don’t.

by 08Cubs on Sep 23, 2008 8:39 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Only Bleachers and 500 level?

…I know there should be more available then that…I’m convinced the Cubs held some tickets back to sell on StubHub. Proven by the fact that they tell you to go to StubHub in the e-mail denial.

by seang03 on Sep 23, 2008 12:59 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah, they probably did. i mean, i'm ok with auction-style pricing...as long as

it’s fair and everyone calls it what it is. an auction, to wring the most $ possible from fans.

I FINALLY got my code by phone. The agent was not too helpful, but eventually had a code for me and said I had never called them before. I guess they had the codes all along.

Since you can only purchase tickets from 12-6, there is a possibility that some people who got the e-mail allowing them to purchas NLDS tickets won’t buy tickets. Maybe they didn’t check their e-mail or didn’t order in time. Will they draw additional names? Or will those tickets just go to the ticket office?

Does anyone else see Soriano picking his nose?

FYI - I had a momentary lapse of reason and

bought a code on eBay for $150…

It could have gone horribly wrong, BUT

I got in right away and bought 2 together in section 528 for game 2. Total cost – $232.96

Is the preferred spot for the hardest of the hardcore. I stood behind the yellow line behind the plate from gate opening through the whole game for NLDS Game 3 in 98. It’s totally worth it.

So are all the tickets sold out?

If not, will they sell the remainder or just tell us they are sold out anyway and put them on StubHub….I’m wondering if many people bought Game 5, i know I didn’t even look at it cause i wanted some tickets to a game sure to take place. and maybe this year we can see the good side of a sweep!

This was a terribly designed system by MLB.
