Z has some makin' up to do -- to Lou, and to the rest of us for his poor performance last Friday. Yes, I know he had other things on his mind, and my condolences to him on the loss of his grandmother. He probably should have had his start pushed back, especially since Lou has reworked the playoff rotation anyway. In any case, this is an important tuneup for Z. He is 4-1, 2.92 lifetime in 7 appearances (6 starts) vs. the Mets, the last of which was April 21 at Wrigley Field, when he limited NY to four singles and a double in seven innings. He handles the Mets' best hitters pretty well -- Carlos Delgado (.250, 4-for 16); Carlos Beltran (1-for-13), David Wright (2-for-13).

Oliver Perez last faced the Cubs on April 15, 2005 when he was still with the Pirates, so any recent performance comparisons are irrelevant. Lou has been resting regulars, so maybe today would be the day to give D-Lee (2-for-11 vs. Perez) the day off, and definitely the day to play A-Ram (4-for-11), DeRo (3-for-6, 2 doubles) and Jim Edmonds (3-for-8, a HR).

Note that although Perez and Z have thrown essentially the same number of innings, it has taken Perez three more starts to get there.

Today's game is on WCIU and SNY -- but fortunately for those of you outside of Chicago, ESPN has picked up the game so it'll be seen nationally. Also see the MLB.com Mediacenter.

We HOPE it's on ESPN

this happened once before on Dish Network and I was blacked out of everything. I’ll hold my breath until I see it on!

I was SO happy. I love that I am no longer in the “Terrace Reserve Infield” but the good old GRANDSTAND ( INFIELD).
Half tempted to drag my ass to the game as tomorrow could be a rain out but I am too tired. If really play Monday night I can go to that.

Good article from the Washington Post

today about the Cubs. The writer just follows Dempster around Lakeview. He mentions that Dempster, Lilly, Wuertz, and Samardzija all live within walking distance of the ballpark.

Remember his injury last year? Well he left the game before the rest of the players in a regular tshirt and no one knew who he was….We stood with him and about 40 Cub fans at Clark and Waveland. It was pretty cool.

(side note) I follow Geo on my bike after the clinch and shook his hand at Irving and Sheridan. His wife was none too happy. But she sure was pretty.

Yes it sure is.

The MK2 cabinet sits in my home office, just taking up space. I neglect it. But it makes a great large poster holder until I get a frame for it.

I just went to the mailbox to get the SI issue. Here’s a comparison.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mccarron/2885435527/

Picture was bought for my birthday from my sister at the Woodfield Field of Dreams store. Pretty neat, got a few on order for this year’s recent games like Z’s no hitter and the clinch game.

It's a project, long going

Cabinet I got off eBay for $350 with Ultimate MK3 in it. And each game ran about either $50-100 each on average, plus extra rehab parts, multi-connection parts, etc I probably put around $700 into it.

Yeah just a lot harder.

Their system is one board with multiple cartridge slots, as the carts could be used in the home systems also (with tooling) and vice versa. I had to buy special hardware to act like that and wire it all up, not quite as easy.

The big problem now is how to properly secure all these large processor boards.

I Can’t figure why he isn’t starting.

He had a pretty decent night last night, and it would be great to have him “tuned-up” for the postseason.

From the Cubs.com story for the game
How good have the Cubs’ No. 9 hitters been? So far, they’re batting a combined .224 with 11 home runs and 67 RBIs. Those numbers include pinch-hitters, not just pitchers, but that’s more production than the Cubs’ No. 2 hitters, who are hitting .263 with five home runs and 48 RBIs this season.

Theriot? Kosuke? We're looking at you.

But seriously, that’s awesome. It’s great to have a lineup that doesn’t give opposing pitchers a moment of rest. Too often we’ve had the kind that, once you got past number four, the pitcher was in coast mode til it came around again.
