BCBers getting to(ol)gether to watch the playoffs
Who lives where, and who's watching the first playoff game next Wednesday, October 1st? I wanted to start a discussion about where we are all located and see if anyone wants to meet up at a bar or venue to watch some of the games.
I'm down here in Kansas, about 40 minutes west of Kansas City, and a transplanted Cubs fan. Haven't met too many of 'em down here, and would gladly get together in KC if there are some other BCBers in the area. If you live elsewhere, feel free to share where and when you would like to get together.
Dan

I could potentially do that

I’m at a conference during the first two games of the NLDS, but after that maybe a possibility on the weekend. I haven’t heard of a Cubs bar either although maybe the ESPN Zone downtown. It would be pretty central for anyone in the Denver area.
And I just happen to be going to Chicago for 2 weeks on Oct. 25 for some job training. That happens to be the day of Game 3 of the WS, the first home game for the NL representative. Could be a lot of fun!
I'd be up for a get together, but the weekday games are near impossible .....
unless they are at night, and I’ll be up at our place in the mountains next weekend. Thank God for satellite dishes, so I can watch us in the playoffs.

good point Dtpollitt and berselius,
what better time to watch the Cubbies than in October, considering we missed out on one of our weekend meetings. I’m down for a weekend game, as i didn’t get chosen to buy NLDS tix. should we do the first weekend or 2nd?
I would choose the LDS game.....
It’s on TBS, so regardless I will either hanging out w/ friends or out as I don’t have cable. But OSU is playing UW here in Madison @ 7pm Saturday. Finding a bar that is playing NLDS might be difficult that night… but Sunday if there is #4 might work better.

And we were just in Chicago over Labor Day, so we’ve already laid out a nice chunk of change. Many of us have said here a lot that we’d be coming in from all over if the World Series became a reality. Damn the cost, we’d charge it, borrow against the house, whatever, but given the current economic climate, I don’t think I even want to joke about that at this point. Without getting too far off topic here, I know of too many people who, although they’re in good standing, have had their interest rates doubled on their credit cards or their limits reduced out of nowhere. Scary stuff.

St. Louis
Believe it or not, I live in the St. Louis area. It’s like living in a family fued and hearing all the dirty details of Cards fans living here. I reccommend Lesters Pub in Clayton. A great sports bar. Let’s go Cub fans………………….. The march to the World Series starts next week…..
how old you have to be to get in to Lester’s? Me and a friend from Webster University wanna go…we’re both 18…also…any other info you got on the place man? Like where it is in Clayton? lol
"Why do you always point to the sky when Zambrano starts?" My girlfriend.
"You just wouldn't get it...it's a Cubs thing..." Me.

If there is a game on Sunday
That would probably be the best bet. The UW-OSU game will occupy all of the bar TVs/attention, most likely, for the Saturday game.
Some people have 3 layers, like pie. Blog Blog Blog
What about tomorrow/Thursday's games?
Finding a quiet bar on a Wednesday at 5:30 isn’t too difficult. Anyone interested?
Ron Santo should sing TMOTTBG everyday. Period.
