We discussed this earlier. Hoff's ML stats. are not better than Ward's.
In fact, you can’t even compare them. One is a position player, the other is a pinch hitter.

Hoff has no position on defense.
Hoff is not the proven, veteran hitter that Ward is. If you really want a career minor-leaguer who finally learned to hit AAA pitching just this year, then I seriously have to begin to doubt your baseball acumen.

Please don't get snarky
There’s no reason to “doubt one another’s baseball acumen”. None of us here are baseball professionals. We are merely opinionated fans. And it is my opinion that the hot bats need to play. Ward is not significantly better on defense than Hoffpauir.

I'm not getting snarky.
When you make assertions like Hoff should be on the post season roster instead of Ward, it’s important to understand that every roster spot from one to 25 has to be on there for a reason despite they got hot in the last 4-5 games. Hoff has no position, Ward is better on D., he has a defined position(s). Hoff struggles to play both the OF corners, and struggles to play first base. Having Hoff on the roster would be akin to having a player that you hope can get a pinch hit- when he has limited to no experience as a pinch hitter.
I apologize if I offended you.

you're comparing an experienced, veteran major leaguer

I think if Hoffpauir was better than Ward
he would have been up the entire year, and Ward wouldn’t be there.
At this point, despite Ward’s struggles, he’s around, and there is a reason for that.

I think he's respected
people just feel that Ward brings more to the table. I can understand that, and frankly, I think Ward may be more worthwhile on the postseason roster for his experience.
That said, if Hoffpauir looks good these next 3 games and Daryle does not, I can understand going with the hot hand in the NLCS.

Drew--the guy has flat out raked 2 springs in a row
he was minor leaguer of the year i believe for the Cubs and he’s he’s averaged over .300 all year in the MLB…he may not be experienced—but he can hit. Similar to Soto in 2007…except older.

except when he comes up to the majors
he doesn’t. So far, today is an abberation in the daily life of Micah Hoffpauir.
He can’t field. He can’t run. He’s got a big hole in his swing, and the fact that he’s beating the crap out of the Mets bullpen, well, I’m happy for him, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to support setting aside Daryle freakin’ Ward to put a journeyman minor-leaguer on the post-season roster!

I think he only made one bad play?
the “bill buckner” special roller through the legs that allowed a run to eventually score?
And maybe not being able to reach for the theriot throw – but I don’t think Lee wouldve gotten that either.
