Didn't Howry used to have a splitter?

ahhhhh the brewery

the proprietor (also named joe) is very proud of his fantasy football draft hosting abilities, which are pretty good – i’ve had 3 drafts there.

i will defn be checking that place out for playoff games, very convenient to my office at howard hughes. i’ll buy ya a drink or 3.

Chicago Dogs on Rancho just north of the 95. Best dogs and beef in town (served on Gonella bread), they also have Green River soda

Tie game, bottom 8, two out

Runners 1st and 3rd. Howry pitching.

Not good.

seriously, it's the eighth. Is Howry all we have available? Does Lou still think he can pitch in close games? Fudge

probably wanted to test him in back-to-back games

simulate the playoffs. Bob failed.

yeah

why waste marmol? see if howry has anything left

by TJ3117 on Sep 25, 2008 8:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Might as well throw Marmol against the Brewers

and keep them from the playoffs.

i don't know that the baseline matters on plays at the plate

by tapdeer on Sep 25, 2008 8:57 PM CDT   0 recs

It doesn't.

It stands to reason that when a player, (Church), runs that far out of the base line- he’ll be able to avoid the tag.

Jimmyeatworld

by Jimmyeatworld on Sep 25, 2008 8:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, I agree. He was at least three feet outside the baseline.

The throw was great, Hill was in position, but Church ran way in the hell out of the baseline.

I assume if this is the playoffs. Lou’s out there arguing.

IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!

by Cubfansince1957 on Sep 25, 2008 9:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

THe throw was not great

it was 6 feet up the line.

That said, our minor league catcher had ample time to set himself and take care of it.

Church had no business being sent on that play….

AND WE LET ’EM OFF THE HOOK!

IF he stays in the baseline

that’s the argument FOR the throw?

c’mon, you and I both know baseline isn’t a consideration there.

The throw has to be close. And it wasn’t. And the catcher has to handle it. And he didn’t.

While we're bashing Howry (deservedly so)...

let’s not forget about Cotts. He started this mess.

by hokie316 on Sep 25, 2008 8:57 PM CDT   0 recs

true.

would have been nice if he could get left-handers not named Carlos Delgado out.

true BUT ..

at least he doesn’t stink as consistently as Howry seems to do so … i’m tired of the drama of watching a reliever give up runs ..

rules change

Too bad those runs don’t get charged to Howry. He usually avoids ERA damage because he let’s everyone else’s baserunners score.
