I'm pretty sure

Chad Gaudin isn’t going to make the post-season roster.

He needs some work after being out for 4 weeks.

Fontenot may be the least likely looking home run hitter. He packs a big punch with his 5-foot-8 physique. Where's the power come from?

Quoth Lou:

“I need Bob [Howry} to pitch well,” Piniella said. “I had a nice little meeting and told him we need him to get nice and sharp and pitch well for us.”

Gee, Lou, could you have said that to Bob about THREE AND A HALF MONTHS AGO?!

Pinella has a huge challenge to not repeat Baker's 2003 mistakes

We all remember that in 2003 the two teams that advanced (Boston and FLA) used their starters in relief at key points of the championship series while Baker and the Yankees stuck with their tired bullpens and it cost them. The 2003 Cubs bullpen is in many ways very similar to where ours is now – they were pretty effective most of year but were cashed by the end. Pinella MUST not confine himself to just using conventional relievers and tap Marquis and Marshall liberally.

I just can’t imagine this team getting to the WS if Gaudin, Cotts and Howry are used in key situations
