Mark Cuban Meeting With Cubs Owners Today

The SunTimes is reporting that Mark Cuban is currently in town and meeting with the Tribune Co. today about the purcahse of the Cubs.

SunTime Article "The Sail Of The Century" Link

As you read this, Mark Cuban will be in Chicago, doing his thing one more time for the purchase. People may have thought the brash and eager Cuban was out of the running, but that's not so.

Kenney isn't discussing particulars -- in a sense he is participating in his own potential demise -- but Cuban is the guy who understands what the Cubs are truly worth.

Previous reports saying he was out, were obviously premature.  I'm glad to hear he's still in the running.

Cuban was on either CNN or Fox the other night

answering questions abou the economy—obviously -no dummy-they finished by asking him if this was a good time to buy a MLB team…he busted out laughing.

Ha, ha! I like that guy...

Don’t know if he’d be a good owner, but he’d be better than many others….like the lame Nats and Orioles’ owners that we have here in DC.

That was yesterday's word.

Can we drop that now, please?

Amen to that.

I may follow up the Presidential Debates with a little Uncle Buck tonight. The Godfather will have to be pushed back in the rotation.

What does Deep Goat say on the team sale front Al?

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

But with MONEY.

That is what Veeck never had and why he could never compete with his teams.

Reading that headline I thought the Cubs were scouting Cuban baseball players...

Really? The Tribune Co. is meeting with Raul Castro?

It's down to Mark Cuban and the Ricketts in my opinion

Both parties can do a cash deal with zero financing if they want to. Ricketts have a $3.5 billion cash position in all their holdings right now. The current Wall Street and LaSalle Street private equity types can’t and will be especially pinned in given the nation’s current financial crisis.

Bud Selig and Jerry Reinsdorf are going to have to acquiesce quite a bit to allow Cuban into the fraternity. That’s why I think it will be the Ricketts in the end.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
