They have won five games this season. During the four years my brother attended, they won once.

Pitching theory
Does it make sense to put a sub-par reliever in (not saying Marmol is subpar) when the opponent is rolling instead of one’s closer? I mean doesn’t it make sense to put the guy you consider your stopper in to STOP the opposition instead of saving him for the 9th when by that time your sub-par reliever may have already choked up the lead? Opinions?
Sarcasm, just one of my many talents
by VegasCubFan on Sep 27, 2008 4:58 PM CDT 0 recs
well, that's the theory
and why some teams (2004 Red Sox) attempted a closer by committee, thinking they could bring in their best reliever whenever. But, it didn’t work, because not all relievers have the mentality to close games.

Makes sense to use Marmol and Wood
It makes sense to use Marmol and Wood today, in their normal roles, then rest them tomorrow, giving them a few days off before the NLDS.

If Twins win out,
and Sox lose next 1 or 2, yes.
If White Sox are up/down .5 game after Sunday, they have to play Detroit to make up a game from a couple weeks ago

Sox and Twins are tied in the loss column
The Twins’ half-game lead is because the Sox had a game postponed (vs Detroit) which, if necessary, will be made up Monday.

makes sense to get him out there in a relief appearance, get him used to it.
