BCB Contest -- Results

Back in July I posted this contest which asked you to pick the number of wins the Cubs would have, with Ryan Theriot's BA and OBA as tiebreakers.

The prize is a $50 gift card from Distant Replays, a store in suburban Atlanta that sells retro sports gear -- check out their website for examples of what they sell.

The Cubs won 97 games. Theriot hit .307 and his OBA was .387. If someone would volunteer to go through all the posts in the contest link above and let me know who the winner is, I'll make sure he (or she) gets the gift card.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Minnessota Fan

Dayton Cubbie had...

Wins: 97
BA: .307
OBP: .371

Those were the only 97/.307s that I could find, just searching through finding every “97” in the post.

Looks like it’s probably Kaseyi

I'll 2nd those findings from above....

Ended up with OBP as tiebreaker:

Kaseyi .381
Minnesota fan .377
Dayton Cubbie .371

(Pretty remarkable 3 people got wins and his BA exactly right. )

Yeah, that is pretty remarkable.

Actually, looking through all the posts, most people were pretty close to all three.

Does this count?

I had .387 OBP, .309 BA which is pretty dead on for Ryan. Unfortuantely I was too pessimistic on the Cubbies, only had them for 93 wins.

Nice pick for Theriot.

But, unfortunately, you had to pick the # of Cubs wins right first.

That could be the winner.

Either post here or email me the final result.

no win

but I think I can live with my original guess:

W : 95 (2 off)
THERIOT BA : .303 (.004 off)
THERIOT OBP: .393 (.006 off)

not bad. no gift card, but not bad.

If only....

They had made up the Astros game, won, and had Theriot go 0-5…I would have been very close!…but I do prefer the day off for these guys.

Well
Wins:98
Avg: .303
OPB: .373

by jbertram on Sep 29, 2008 8:59 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Darn

I had his OBP exactly right. Too bad that is the only thing I got right.

by adam316 on Sep 29, 2008 9:04 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I was SO CLOSE!

Cubs Wins: 96
Theriot’s BA: .304
Theriot’s OBP: .386

by ak123 on Sep 29, 2008 9:16 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

lol, did you see his prediction?

He didn’t participate in the contest (surprise, surprise)

But his Theriot prediction is:
.247 BA
.306 OBP

He knows so much about baseball, it boggles the mind.

I suck.

I predicted “only” 91 wins and thought Theriot would completely fall apart in the last couple months and wind up at .275/.342. Ryan, I bow humbly before your scrapaciousness.

I did pretty well

Had 97, .317, and .405………yeah, I like Theriot a bit more than most. At least I beat Mrcubsfan. I think he owes me an Old Style in the bleachers during the NLCS!

Cubs Win!! Cubs Win!

Will be glad to pay up too

which means we’re at the game and the Cubs beat the Dodgers!

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

I was close

I had 97 wins as well, but The Riot’s BA I had at .302 and an OBP of .375.

In most contests, that would have been good enough. Not here.

by Josh77 on Sep 29, 2008 1:24 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Damn I was close

Cubs wins – 96
Theriot BA – .307
Theriot OBP – .378

I had:

97-65, .303, .352. Closer than I could’ve guessed (but, wait…I did guess…).

May I just say...

this is the classic case of the Blind squirrel finding a nut. I changed each part of that answer at least 3 times before I posted the winning one.
