If I Could Be Assured The Cubs Make The Playoffs

Without Z and Harden right now, then I’m all for them down until then.

So be it

They have a 99 percent chance of advancing. I’ll take it.

The ship is sinking and the rats are jumping off!

I hate watching them lose but I seen too much great play to believe that it all was luck that we won 85 games so far. It would be nice, however, to have something positive to take out of the last 5 games. There isn’t anything. All I can say is, BEAT CINCY!!

"He can't hit, he can't field, he can't run—all he can do is beat you."

Let 'em jump

The Cubs have too many bedwetters in their fan base, anyway. This team is too good to slump for long. Pulling off a mirage for five months is impossible in MLB today.

All teams slump...

…just figures that it would happen to the Cubs at the end of the season

At least the Mets were kind enough to sweep the brewers for us, (and with the Cards and Phillies losing as well, the damage was limited to the Cubs ego).

I would rather be a cubs fan than a

Cardinals, White Sox, Reds, Astros, brewers, Pirates, Dodgers, padres, Rockies, Red Sox, blue jays, marlins etc

Wouldn’t it suck to be a Marlins fan??

I dunno.....

I still hear it from 03

Not good timing

there’s never a good time for a 5 game slump, but this is definitely one of the worse times to have one. What’s of greater concern though is Z’s mysterious arm injury. It has to be serious for Z to pull himself, and that is what concern’s me because the cubs are going to need him to make a serious run in the playoffs and possibly the WS. This team will recover from this slump and right the ship. A lot of people want to jump off the ledge because it’s 5 losses in a row, but it hasbeen said that this was the toughest part of their schedule, and the astros are something like 26-10 since the break. Their doing their usual mad dash after the all star break when their darn near unbeatable. The cubs will make the playoffs, but you want them to do it with momentum, not struggling at the finish because they’re out of gas. Z should be the concern right now, and harden to a lesser extent.

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
