The inherent risk, of course...

…is that, if the Brewers win, the stress level for tonight’s game will go up exponentially. Then again, I’m at work, so it’s not like I have anything else better to do.

Yeah, the work helps.

No need to worry. Consider this: Randy Wolf is 1-4 in 7 career starts at Wrigley. His ERA is 5.36.

In 2008, he threw 4 IP, allowed 7 ER and 5 BB in his only start of the year at Wrigley.

This made me feel better...

We have 24 games left, Milwaukee has 23. Magic number is 20.

There are 47 results remaining that affect us, and only 20 have to go our away. Percentage-wise, that’s something to feel good over. Let’s turn it around tonight and get it to 18.

by camnorris14 on Sep 3, 2008 10:53 AM CDT reply actions

Math Error

Actually Milwaukee has 25 games left which means there are 49 results.

by john62 on Sep 3, 2008 12:42 PM CDT up reply actions

And the Cubs play the Brewers 6 times

Which means either a reduction in the magic number by 2 or no change at all. So how does that change things?

Update: Fielder is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Mets, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

Recommendation: Milwaukee is facing its fifth left-handed starter in six games, while Fielder has gone just 3-for-25 and has failed to homer in the last 17 games (66 at-bats). Mike Rivera gets the nod in Fielder’s place on Wednesday.

I take this one back - the July 5 game was tied after 7

the Cubs second loss when leading after 7 was on July 26, when they were up 2-1 on Florida entering the 8th and lost, 3-2, in 12.

But, Howry didn’t pitch, so he’s off the hook.

Probably not.

Gagne will just miss the batter.

By the way,

it’s a SF9 — the catcher doesn’t get in the box score on the play, since the runner was safe

Maybe I should go home…

By the way, all you temporary Mets fans

Go Cards and Phils. Neddie hasn’t shown a good track record responding to pressure. If the Phils win, they’re 3 1/2 back, and the Cards could get to within 4.5.

Brad Nelson, Alcides Escobar, Rickie Weeks...

…it’s almost as if the Brewers are TRYING to send their worst hitters to the plate here.

Takes the pressure off the Cubs tonight. Let’s hope they come out playin’ free and easy and take Wrigley back.
