Bad News... Frank TV is back...

If you watched last year's NLDS you might remember a commercial for a tv show on TBS that ran during every commercial break (it seemed). Well... bad news. He's got a new season and TBS has already began running tons of commercials for it. I was watching TBS (Kingpin, what a great movie) and they ran perhaps 10 commercials for Frank TV, and unfortunatelly they were all the same.

At least last year there were a couple different ones. Get ready to be bored to tears by TBS commercials again. Wahooo-oooooo!

Hopefully the Cubs sweep so we dont have to see 5 games worth of these commercials.

his voices are spot-on

but almost everyone he plays is thinner or shorter than him.

I'm sure they will show them

over and over. Oh well, that time is what the mute button, restroom and refrigerator are for! The goal is to be “bored to tears” by the FOX commercials during the final eight victories.

Maybe it's just me, but...

… I just don’t think he’s funny.

I don't find him particularly funny either.

And I’ve come to associate his big, dumb face with last year’s postseason. So being forced to watch him again is going to be pure torture.

I'm glad I won't see much of him, then.

I have a weird superstition about changing the channel during games...

…but I will make good use of the mute button.

And how has that superstition worked out for you in the past...

…just sayin’ :)

Well, the Cubs won 97 games this season, so pretty well.

To clarify, I hold to that superstition in every televised game – regular season or otherwise.

You better keep doing exactly what you've been doing all year.

I'd rather watch those commercials

than that stupid Tony Romo one every commercial break

Oh, I don't know

I think his Shatner is pretty funny.

He's a terrible comedian

His imitations are not bad but he’s not funny at all.

He’s doing far too many commercials for things and he’s just bad.

Even his “real” persona is an act. Watch how he holds his arms and hands, it’s very stiff and unnatural.

by Arbusto on Sep 30, 2008 7:33 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

A Good Impressionist

The first time I heard his W, his Madden, and his Al Pacino, I thought they were the real thing. His Dr. Phil and Charles Barkley, not so much.

Never, but NEVER, put ketchup on a hot dog.

by CaliCub on Sep 30, 2008 7:59 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I love his impressions, he does a great Bill Walton and others

The problem is, his act never changes. The commercials all repeat and really those are most of the jokes that he has.

at least we don't have to see the Dane Cook ads anymore

You know the Rockies, but you don’t know THESE Rockies. Troy Tulowitzki!!, Kaz Matsui!!, Brad Hawpe!!. There’s only one postseason, (now screaming) THERE’S ONLY ONE OCTOBER!!

by mycubs1987 on Sep 30, 2008 8:18 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

So true!

I can’t stand Dane Cook in anything he does, let alone promoting the playoffs on TBS.

i guess i'm the only one left

who genuinely likes his stand-up. it’s lonely :(

by nathew on Sep 30, 2008 8:56 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not at all...

I think he’s hilarious. I have his first stand-up album, and the number of voices that he simply NAILS on it is amazing. He even does a good Harry Caray.

Frank Caliendo

I saw him at Zanies in Vernon Hills about 5 years ago, before he “made it”. Very entertaining.

+1 to the nth

What a dipsh*t.

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space. That day appears to be near.

Voices are good, makeup is bad

He should stick to doing voices and not being in costume. He’s a more effective comedian that way.

by daeviant on Sep 30, 2008 8:33 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Every postseason, baseball fans HAVE to endure a commercial for a crappy new TV show

It’s like a law or something at this point. FOX, TBS, NBC, you name it… they just saturate the playoffs with ads for whatever show they feel compelled to hype the most that season.

You can always do what I do.

Flip to the Weather Channel between innings.

I have Sirius music on my Dish Network

so I switch to the Blues, Jimmy Buffett, or Elvis station between innings.

Hmmmm…bad WGN ads vs. bad TBS ads…the literal agony of choice. At least we won’t have that creepy jaundice-eyed logo, mommies enjoying DQ turkey sandwiches a little too much, or the ad nauseum “Total freak, freak, FREAK!” to endure.

On the Go

I put up with those damn On the Go ads all year, I can stand 4 weeks of Fox/TBS if it means the Cubs are playing.

It will be annoying but...

Chip Carey will be doing the games…so that is a bright spot or maybe I am on of the only people who liked him.

by GracesWinstons on Sep 30, 2008 12:14 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I really enjoy him also

who else is doing the game?

by JPetey on Sep 30, 2008 1:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It won't be Chip.

It will be Dick Stockton. Ugh.

I really enjoy him when he is on Bob and Tom

but his show is not funny and I don’t really enjoy him on Fox football either. Maybe when I can’t see him he’s good or maybe he’s just not good at working from a script.
