It's As It Is .. What Will The Cubs Nation Do In Cincy ..

.. to rally our boys in blue on in a situation getting more and more dramatic as the days go by?

I hope the same number of Cubs fans turn out for this one as when the Cubs played in Cincinnatti at the end of last year. We are coming to cheer a first place team, still with a commanding lead and still with the goods to get the job done. It's definitely getting interesting. We've been living a dream this past summer and I hope everyone heeded Al's advise .. remember where you were!

So now the final sprint to the finish is on and the Cubs are stumbling a bit. They're still on their feet but clearly, things have darkened a touch. I am certain we will survive and we will overcome. This team is too good to fold now.

Still, this will be a special series. The pressure is on for the Cubs to make this a turning point. I am glad to be a part of the migration of the Cubs Nation to GABP and to help do all we can to cheer our guys on. We're having our annual family get together in Cincy again, four years strong now and we're going to wave signs, have all my nieces and nephews wear shirts saying G O   C U B S  and sit together. We're going to holler ourselves hoarse. And this old boy will be saying a few prayers ..

If you are coming, or can't make it and wish you could, what would you do if you were in the stands or standing outside the Cubs' hotel to send them that vibe, that energy to let 'em know we're behind em?

Reds

Im just happy knowing there is ZERO chance of Adam Dunn hitting any 500 ft homeruns against us in this upcoming series. ZERO!

But that also means the one man caveman circus tactic he applies to defense in LF won’t help us out either.

But Lou, for this series can we not even consider pitching to the guy abusing us to this line for this season.

.364 BA, 7 HR, 13 RBI’s

Yeah, that’s just this season! In 44 at bats!

In fact, the one man Cubs wrecking crew Mr. Joey Votto has 20 career HR’s and 8 of them have been against the Cubs. When Lily is on the mound I don’t think Soto should even bother going into a crouch. Just give the man first base and deal with whatever reunited ex-Cub Dusty can slot in behind him.

Yeah, he did.

That’s the one guy left on the Reds who worries me.

lack of Cub Killers always a good thing

Bay out of the division…Dunn out of the division…

But, Dunn is on the team that we will most likely play

in round one again this year, a team that has our number since it’s inception.

Too bad we dont get a crack at Froggy

he started and pitched three less than stellar innings against the Pirates today.

I'm ready!

I’ll be there. Let’s re-focus and go get ’em!

I'm going to the Sunday game

and I will be cheering them on, wearing my Cubby Blue, and jeering the Reds. That’s about all I can do and I hope I can at least send a good vibe.

Lots of good tickets still available for all 3 games.

I thought about going to one of the games myself, but I just don’t have the time for the 4-hour drive each way.

FYI...

… I got an email from a reader here who said there are tix available on Stubhub for this series for as little as $1.50.

Wish I could go, but not this year. GO CUBS! Those of you going, CHEER LOUD!

Recommend Cincy for Cubs Games

Tickets are plentiful and relatively cheap. Motels in places like Ft. Mitchell, Ft. Wright, and Florence, Kentcuky, are inexpensive. There are far more Cubs fans than Reds fans at the Chicago-Cincinnati games at Great American Ball Park. For those of you who don’t come from really big cities, you’re not going to be intimidated by the size of Cincinnati. It’s one of the smallest MLB markets around. I’m not going to be there this year. I was there in 2004, 2005, and for the last regular season series of 2007. I’ve got my tickets to see the Cubs play at some place called Wrigley Field from September 16-19. I hear the Cubs fans there always outnumber the fans of the opposing team.

In fact, I’m on my way out the door to head for Cincy right now. See y’all there!

Florence

has a very large water tower that says “Florence Y’all” near the interstate…it’s one of the highlights of my drive down to school every year.

Saturday/Sunday

going to see Saturday’s game and on sunday going to see the bears in indy.

Trying to figure out if I can do the sunday game and make it to Indy in time to go to the game.

Staying overnight with fiends in Cincy Saturday.

Go Cubs

Living in Indy

I can tell you that it will be crazy here on Sunday. There’s a decent chance getting into downtown before kickoff (8:15 or so) will be ridiculous.

Thanks

Maybe I’ll go and take a chance the game will be quick or maybe a blowout hopefully the Cubs way early.

Don’t know why I’m going to see the Bears game. I think the Bears have about as much of a chance of winning as my 8 year old’s mighty mite team has a chance of beating the high school team here (consistently playoff team)

Go Cubs

I'm Gonna Be There

I’m a Cubs fan going to school in Ohio and I will be there tomorrow cheering on my boys in Blue! I can’t wait to see all you Cubs fans show up in the numbers that were there last year for the clincher! Only a few more games till we get that out of the way.

by renke81 on Sep 4, 2008 8:13 PM CDT reply actions

Will be there for sure

Driving down from Columbus (after watching the Bobcats defeat the Buckeyes on Saturday) for the games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Seemed like there were more Cubs fans on the third base side last year, so that’s where we’re sitting for both games.

Did anyone notice...

that they raised ticket prices for when the Cubs came in to Cincinnati this year? Last year I payed next to nothing to go and this year it seems like they spiked a bit for this series.

by renke81 on Sep 4, 2008 8:24 PM CDT reply actions

I saw that

Last year you could buy tickets on the street for less than face.

Scalping on site is legal in Cinci… you just have to buy from someone with a permit.

I'll bet you can still get them on the street for less than face.

See my comment above about Stubhub, too.

Wish me luck!

A win at Saturday morning’s league golf tournament lands me in a car with a 4 hour trip to catch the game on Saturday night!! Somehow I’ve convinced my fiance that we have to see this team live at least once…. I told her this was their year!!!

.. you must be north of here near K town, right?

Cubs need 2 our of 3 in Cincy for sanity sake

The onus is on the veteran leaders in the lineup to step up. Lee, Ramirez, Soriano and Edmonds need to set the tone early.

by MDBNIU on Sep 5, 2008 12:39 AM CDT reply actions

I'll be there with a friend on Sunday...left field bleachers.

At least Baily is in AAA and won’t go against the Cubs. He threw 6 scoreless, 2 hit innings last night in the Louisville Bats complete blowout of the Durham Bulls (19-3) in their playoffs. They looked really good. I was hoping the Reds would drop a bunch of their players down there for the playoffs before the Cubs had to face them. Should be a nice weekend series for the Cubs, though.

I’ll be in the Machine Room at GABP a couple hours before the game if anyone wants to say ‘HI’. I’ll have my project 3000 shirt on as well as a Cubs jersey. Go Cubs, Go!

After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases. ~Mickey Mantle

We'll be there...

If we get there early enough I’ll come look for you. Usually by the time we get situated it’s already the bottom of the first.

Bronson Arroyo is the one Cub killer

I would like to beat. He owns us and I would like nothing more than to lay about a half-dozen runs on him in the first couple of innings. Let’s stomp this guy!

Anyone going to be there Saturday?

Our family will be sitting somewhere on the third base side. I’ll be wearing my Fan Since 69 jersey. Soon as I know more, I’ll post it. My brother wangled a deal with the Reds ticket office over some dissatisfaction he had with them and we supposedly have some sweet seats down on around section 128..

Any of you see me there, don’t be a stranger ..

Who cares what you do there...

so long as you get to the Montgomery Inn down the street for a rack of ribs. I am not going this year to the cubs/reds series, but I have a few times in the past, and the highlight is always the trip for those succulent baby backs. As long as you get those, the weekend should be just fine, regardless of the play on the field….

But the rest of it was sickening. Ugh. We will right the ship….we will right the ship….we will right the ship……
