Off-day fun : Raising $ for Project 3000

Ok, the off day is almost over, but let's be honest.  We're all going to be stir-crazy waiting for 6:10 CDT Friday.  The Zambrano news is good, so we can turn our focus back to the on-field action.

A few weeks ago, there was some banter on the site about the NFL, so in the spirit of fun, sportsmanship and talking smack, I bet Drew $20 that the Packers will have a better record than the Bears.  The winnings will go to Project 3000, payable to Al at the 2009 convention.

I thought I'd start this post to see if anyone else wants to come up with fun ways to raise some cash.  No, I'm not going to bet every Bears, Vikings, etc. fan out there.  I might make another bet, if it's creative enough.

Anyway, have at it -- let's raise some more money!

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

This is a great idea!

FWIW, I have already sent over $700 to Project 3000 since the new T-shirts went on sale at Strange Cargo. (Click that link to get yours if you haven’t already, and if you have, THANK YOU!)

Strange Cargo

very nice people, I went in and they only had a few left on the rack….. a small and a couple XL… I wanted a large. The guy I asked went downstairs to check and came back to say that had none but offered to make me one on the spot and that it would only take a few minutes. I had no idea they could do that! Pretty Cool! Well I ended up just buying the XL since I was not parked leagally but it turned out to run a tiny bit small which was good for me. BTW, saw a million other cool things at that store.

Go ahead, Z me.

Thank you both -- come up with an idea!

Ok, you're on

I’m also hoping people will make bets with other people here!

I have a better suggestion...

join my campaign and be the press secretary!

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

Im flattered @ the offer.

As press secretary am I allowed to come up with some inexpensive ideas for people or is that not in job description?

Ok *smiling*

Theriot causes huge debates would anyone be up something related to that? With such a heated topic there would be many things to pick. Donate money or use Purples idea.

What about donating something for every scoreless inning Howry is a part of. between now and the rest of the season. Pick an amount even $1 or $5 makes a difference

That is something even someone on a fixed income could do. Being on a fixed income myself, I will donate $1 for every HR Geo hits between today and the end of the season

ML record? (36)

Well Al...

records are there to serve as reminders of the accomplishments of the men who went before us. I deeply respect those men and their struggles. While we can learn so much from the past, let us not forget to turn our compass needles to the future and make our own marks on the record books. My platform embraces the forward thinking that is needed to blaze new trails. Working hand in hand as the American People, I’m convinced we can have our brightest days ahead of us. Thank You.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.
