We’re winning! Good to see. Marquis’s numbers are good thus far, although 1-0 is an unlikely winning score. Hopefully the pitching stays strong and the bats heat up, go Cubs!

I see no reason to give them that opportunity.
We have the technology to do the job better than them, when it calls to balls and strikes. If they don’t like it, let them go work the indie leagues.

I'm not saying he's the second coming of Babe Ruth
I’m saying give him a chance. He his hitting .350 which is good, but it doesn’t tell us anything. I say give him 100 abs. If he’s still hitting .350 then we might have something. If he’s not then we don’t. But either way he’s had a good start and should be given a chance

Give him 100 AB where?
This isn’t a farm team. We’re in the middle of a penant race. He’s played first base since college, and for good reason.
Keep doing what they are doing

Yep.
Big league stats are a small sample size. But K and BB rates stabilize a lot quicker than anything else. At 40 PAs they mean SOMETHING – not everything, but something.
Of course, we could get into his minor league stats and translations, but you’d call those bullshit too, probably.
I think I have
a preconceived notion based on the fact that he hasn’t done all that hot in clutch situations in the bigs.
Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!
by drewishdrewid on Sep 6, 2008 7:48 PM CDT up reply actions
It's not about clutch or unclutch.
It’s that he doesn’t seem to have any command of the strike zone – he’ll swing at anything. He’s a very undisciplined hitter.
well, maybe
but it’s magnified when it’s a clutch situation.

…what were the Red’s announcers talking about when they were talking about some Cub fans?
"I'm petrified of nipple chafing. Once it starts, it's a vicious circle." Andy Bernard
the Cubs fans boo'd
when they tried that fake to third and spin to first play. The Reds announcers said that the fans were yelling “balk” which, of course, it isn’t. Then they said you don’t need basic baseball knowledge to buy a ticket……or to put on a “Blue” jersey. That’s what they said. I will not say what I think about them as announcers.
So typical...
