and decided that there are no such things as curses, jinxes, or anything greater than a 0% chance that the Brewers or Cubs players are reading my BCB posts, on their edge of their seats, waiting to see what I say next.

For the record

Really?

The Matrix recycles a lot of pretty common sci-fi tropes (not that that’s a bad thing!) Dark City did a much more thoughtful presentation of the basic idea. Great, great movie.

How the HELL did I know you would mention DC

I’m so die-hard Matrix Trilogy, it dawned on me I had not see DC. Bought it bout 2 weeks ago, haven’t watched it yet.

I don't know.

Maybe it’s my copy of the Star Trek: Next Generation Technical Manual. Or the fact that I own all five seasons of Babylon 5 on DVD. Probably something along those lines.

Dark City was awsome...and it had Jennifer Connelly in it too...

But The Matrix was groundbreaking in its own way.

Mostly for how it looked.

The story was really old hat. Which, recycled sci-fi tropes are still awesome. But still.

i think part of my problem w/ matrix

It started out with a bloop single that Edwards misplayed into a man at second.

Kerry walked the next batter. Then, on a bunt attempt, DLee threw out the man at third. Unfortunately, Kerry walked the next guy to load the bases. The critical play occurred when the next man hit a grounder up the middle that Cedeno could have turned two and gotten us out of the game but he booted it. Two runs scored and the next man up singled (only solid hit of the inning) and the game was over.

He fucked up. It happens, but I’ve watched the replay almost 10 times now, and like I said he was too worried about getting the DP than actually fielding it first. by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 3:58 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i didnt say horrible

and there have been plenty of 1st round busts.

by lexmarklover on Sep 7, 2008 3:59 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

why is there all this silly arguing over Rodgers

(on BCB, no less!). Don’t you think the answer about whether Rodgers “is worthy” will be answered after three games against MINN, DET & DAL?

THIS IS OUR CENTURY!!

by LAcarl519 on Sep 7, 2008 4:00 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

DET, not so much...

but yes. Of course, all these questions will be answered in time. Just something to do to avoid the Cubs game.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:01 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

they all cant be Kyle Ortons

gravity is really a bitch when it comes to his noodle arm

by bheidge on Sep 7, 2008 3:59 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hah!

So you would take Orton over Rodgers?

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

are you saying that because

you might be a little biased? He has started 18 games in his career and has a 62.2 QB rating. I, and most people would take a gamble on Rodgers over this guy.

by bheidge on Sep 7, 2008 4:12 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol

good luck with him this year. I would rather have an unproven…

by bheidge on Sep 7, 2008 4:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

psst, bheidge...

I think our buddy lexmark is in denial…
But anyway, what do you think of our chances this year? I think we’ll be fighting w/ the Vikes for the division.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:06 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

you didn't

you just said they packers wouldn’t be good because they don’t have favre.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really dont have too much hope for this year

playoffs is a possibility, but I am viewing this year as a transition year. I am in love with the defense though, I think these guys will continue to get better.

by bheidge on Sep 7, 2008 4:08 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

See what you're saying,

but I think we have a chance to be good.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

dont be a bitch.

if somebody asks you a question answer it.

by lexmarklover on Sep 7, 2008 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

lmao

relax bud, i answered it twice. read 3 posts up. but it’s always really manly to call people a bitch on the internet.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

We know what the defense can do, its up to the offense at this point. Monday against the vikings will be a HUGE test.

by bheidge on Sep 7, 2008 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think I'll adjust my expectations for the season after that game.

I’m hoping big though. I really think Rodgers has potential.

you can so easily critize Theriot when he hasn't done this in any games this year

but you can’t accept that Cedeno had a shitty play? And you still haven’t responded to my argument about Theriot being a better hitter than Cedeno

um I'd beg to differ, its not that small a sample size

Career Stats

Theriot: 1205 AB, .290 BA, .389 OBP, .976 Fielding%
Cedeno: 865 AB, .254 BA, .291 OPB, .966 Fielding %

Cedeno you could say is statistically worse than Theriot

by Chanman25 on Sep 7, 2008 3:46 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Career?

Cedeno is younger, and is progressing. He’s become a better hitter in the last year. His earlier stats mean nothing.

I said cedeno is better than theriot. You said chanman is cool.

I said younger players improve. You said that’s true. So I asked what your argument was. You said you “disagree with it.” I asked “disagree with me saying younger players improve?”. And that’s me arguing in circles? Ok bud.

by Jayo525 on Sep 7, 2008 3:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

um so has Theriot

and he’s been hitting MUCH better than Cedeno has in the “last year” And Cedeno and Theriot have virtually the same fielding percentage this year. How is he better?

2008 Cubs: Who needs nine innings, when you only need a 7th?

by Chanman25 on Sep 7, 2008 3:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

sure he is younger, but that necessarily doesn't mean he is better

and both of them are not really power hitters. Cedeno has 13 HR, while Theriot has 7

2008 Cubs: Who needs nine innings, when you only need a 7th?

by Chanman25 on Sep 7, 2008 3:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

uhh... 13 is a lot more than 7. Clearly Cedeno is the better defender.

FP doesn’t tell you anything. Look at their zone ratings, OOZ plays, etc. Theriot has no range.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 3:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

13 home runs in 800+ at bats is bad.

Especially when you are arguing he is better because he has more “power.”

"Hey.....Cubs win!!!" ---Harry
"Swung on belted!!!"---Chip

by Hammer on Sep 7, 2008 3:53 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Except it obviously proves that he does have more power.

We aren’t arguing about other players, we’re arguing between these two. Cedeno has more power. He doesn’t get consistent playing time like Theriot. He’s younger, and improving. Theriot has hit his peak. He’s a worse baserunner than Cedeno. He has half the arm of Cedeno. He’s just plain bad.

by sackings108 on Sep 7, 2008 3:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

There it is

I’d like to see the our W-L record when he makes an error. He’s fucked up a lot too, but it’s rarely cost us the game.

Yes.

He was discussing fielding errors. I think Soriano is a possibilty. Why do you have an issue with that? Do you have to be opposed to everyones opinion but your own? Seems that way.

would get my vote for Cubs Hall of Infamy if this season goes South.

un-fucking-believable

Wood really needs to throw strikes, not like the guys he went through were intimidating. Good thing the Brewers are struggling at the same time, getting swept by the mets and then splitting with the padres.

Sox lose Sox lose. Misery loves company. I can’t wait for the Cubs to win in STL this week. I think the Reds might have just fired some people up.

let's blame Brenly as he declared that the 5 days

off did not hurt Woody’s control after the first 4 pitches and he was 2-2 on the batter. Karma strikes back. That was like the Cincy radio announcers raving about how much Harang throws inside and he had gone 149 innings before today and never hit anyone…oops.

You gotta blame someone right?
