Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Where's your Felix Pie NOWWWWW (using my best Edward G. Robinson from The Ten Commandandments voice)?

Okay Pie lovers, why hasn't he been called up now that the Iowa Cubs are finished in the Journeyman Wonder League playoffs, er I mean Triple A playoffs?    Lets see what that pile o' crap Pie can do this go around.   Even Pie deserves a farewell tour before he heads off to play for the Triple A team of the Washington Nationals or Yomuiri Giants next season.

75 words are about 73 more words then I want to waste on Felix Pe.   But duty and honor necessitate that I keep on typing until the warning box goes away.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Wow...

I have no love for Pie, but this seems a bit harsh. Felix must have done something to your family in a previous life…

I really see no reason to call him back except to pinch run. No need to take any ABs away from Johnson or Edmonds at this point.

Way back... outta here!!!

Maybe as a late-inning defensive replacement, too?

I suppose

He is not a huge step up from Johnson, but I suppose you could put Johnson in LF for defense and Pie in CF.

He adds little value though. If we don’t see him it won’t bother me.

Where does this leave us for next year though?

A defensive centerfielder of his caliber...

…adds a lot of value in my book. I’ve been trying not to comment too much on the postseason until the Cubs actually clinch a spot, but how great would be if, when the Cubs are leading late in a game, Lou could put RJ in left, Pie in center and Dome in right? That’s a pretty solid defensive outfield right there.

he is a HUGE step up from Johnson

he’s got the arm, which Johnson does not, and he’ll make catches on the run that Johnson will have to dive for.

Never mind the amazing leap up from Edmonds that he’ll be.

Well right now he and Harden

have been as much help to the Cubs in the last two weeks. Clearly Lou does not want Pie
as he did not want Eyre, Lieber etc. The fact that Pie is NOT called up when he clearly would have use ( speed, defense) is indicative of how Lou allows his emotions to get the
better of his baseball judgement. Who would rather have on the roster Pie or Howry ?

Ok took a while for a response

I left a halftime, Bad fan bs be damned, that second half would have been boring as hell. I did have some friends stay. They said Gabbert looked like a freshman, but showed promise and a strong arm. Chase Patton looked pretty good as well (at least thats what I was told). Pinkel really scaled back the playcalling though because he didn’t want to run up the score.

I’ll bet the numbers show that Alfonso played better last season when Felix was up with the big club. The two were roommates last year and obviously good friends. Bring him up just to make your star happy for a couple weeks. Maybe get his bat going again (3HR game aside obviously).

you're quite a character, you know that?

almost all major league players came up through the AAA system. Where do you get off talking about those players this way? Sure, there are plenty of players who never make it to the bigs, but for every Jake Fox there’s a Geovanny Soto.

These guys work hard, and for many of them, it’s just the luck of the draw that they never see the light of a major league stadium.

Felix Pie has accomplished what you were never able to do. Whether or not Pie comes up and plays well remains to be seen, but at least he’s THERE. He has a chance to help make happen what you can only stand by and watch.

now there's an interesting theory

Blue Mike is Bobby Howry. Would explain why Blue Mike never posts on winning game threads — Home Run Bobby’s always in the pen during those games, itching to get in and make it exciting.

Felix

Where is Felix?

I’m guessing having a nice breakfast at the hotel in St. Louis.

Bobby Hill

I really think we made a huge mistake giving him up in the Ramirez trade. I think he’d be a 5 time MVP now with 70 homeruns this season.

Called up to do what?

Hit major league pitching? No.

This isn't 1969...is this 1969?...this isn't 1969, is it?

My new motto:

Hey Chicago, what do ya say....

by halfblindcubbiegirl on Sep 9, 2008 4:08 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You are about as humble as Napoleon...

…and about as knowledgeable as Marie Antoinette. After all your bluster and bloviating about this, you were dead solid wrong. When called upon it, rather than cop to having perhaps been mistaken, you still act arrogant and continue to dispense the Holy Writ on the subject of Pie.

Have you no shame? At long last, have you no dignity at all?

by cwyers on Sep 9, 2008 4:09 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

no silly that was what you do in the minor leagues

wait… that’s not right…

ahhh circular reasoning, aint it grand?

Pie shouldn’t be called up because he cant hit major league pitching, what a fantastic motto

You're a garden-variety troll...

…and not a very good one at that. If I might paraphrase the great Lee Elia:

I’ll tell you one f*ckin’ thing, I hope we Felix Pie gets f*ckin’ hotter than sh*t, just to stuff it up them 3,000 f*ckin’ people that MDBNIU who shows up on BCB every f*ckin’ day, because if they’re the he’s a real Chicago f*ckin’ fan, they he can kiss my f*ckin’ ass right downtown and PRINT POST IT.

Yes, actually

Hit and walk against major league pitching, and drive in and score runs. All that in ONE GAME!

I’m not saying he’s gonna start for the rest of the season, but he’s certainly shown he isn’t overmatched by major leaguers…

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
