Sunday Afternoon Name That Cub
This one came from BCB reader rlpete. It's a good one. I had never heard of this guy before, and I'll bet you haven't either. Once again, the photo itself gives a clue.

Name That Cub
Robert DeNiro – during his GodFather II years
DeNiro could have played him in a movie.
If they had ever made one about this guy.

“Hey look, I’m in black and white!”
Erm, well if we are going to call Milton Bradley nicknames, mine is Fischer Price: yes, you heard it here first..
Hack Miller?
That photo dates from from the early 1920s.

Well I didn't want to give away my secret, but...
The bleached white uni with the block “CUBS” was worn in 1922 only. (And I appreciated the hint in the original post.)
So after narrowing it down to one roster, I google image searched the starting fielders first, then I moved to the SP’s.
I shoulda known it was Virgil since 1922 was his only decent year.

Actually, that's pretty good research.

Definitely Virgil Cheeves
Red Devil is right, I distinctly remember nicknaming him “The Giant Killer” back in 1922 or so….
Right Al?

Looks like
maybe Reddevil has it. Darn, and just when I was going to guess George “Chippy” Gaw or Sweetbreads Bailey. They don’t name ’em like they used to.

The right answer is above.
