13 game flex pack on sale tomorrow

For those of us not lucky enough to have season tickets like Al, but are on the waitlist, the 13 game flex pack goes on sale tomorrow at 10 am CT. This is my first year being able to take part in it living in Chicago, so if anyone has any advice on how to go about this, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm not even sure what kind of choice I'll have or if I can even buy pairs of tickets, but, its better than nothing.

Lots of May/April games too

Craigslist is a better bet if you don’t get regular single game tickets.

Just like last year...

… you have to buy some of the less desirable games in order to get the MORE desirable games.

Anybody know what kinda seats they are going offering?

or is it anything thats not taken by season ticket holders?

by KButler on Jan 14, 2009 3:07 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Last Year

you got different seats for most games… it takes a little creativity to put together a good flex plan for yourself. For this year, there are no other details than what I posted above.

Yea, thats kind of what I was starting to realize

I was hoping that bleachers would be available so that I could buy another ticket through other means. Going to games solo can get old.

I would think bleachers will be available under this promotion

they were last year for the 9-pack plan.

only one ticket?

no thanks. I got a kid and a wife.

I wish they’d put the TIMES of the games in the email, too. A night game on Friday, I can do, a day game, no.

There can't be any Friday nights, by city ordinance.

What is the city's issue with the night games?

Seems odd to me. Although I do love the Friday day games. I can’t always help but think, “shouldnt these people be at work?” But hey, im there too…hahaha

by KButler on Jan 14, 2009 5:20 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

you can buy more than one ticket - up to six

the thing is, you have to buy the same number of tickets for ALL 13 games.

Here’s part of the description from the promotion page on cubs.com

The 2009 Lead Off Plan offers you the ability to purchase tickets for 13 select baseball games during the regular season. You can purchase up to six tickets for each of these 13 games. You will need to order the same amount of tickets for each of the 13 games that you select.

Oh well that makes much more sense

I recall hearing about another one of those dreaded “online” lines for this package last year. Hopefully its not too congested and ridiculous.

by KButler on Jan 14, 2009 3:57 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Amen to both of those

I can’t remember the last time they had a night friday game though, so I’d assume they are all night.

This makes me sad

as I’ll be far far away from Chicago … at least the night games will occur at a far more reasonable hour

Just a quick question for Al

Or anyone else with extensive knowledge regarding, ticket prices, etc.

Is this a good deal in the long run? Tickets this year were always on craigslist, etc., for 80+, so I am thinking about going ahead and getting the pack since I end up going to at least 13 anyways. Just wanted some reassurance. Thanks for anyones help…..

by KButler on Jan 14, 2009 10:30 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

if you're going to go to that many games anyway, then, yeah, it probably is a good deal - with one caveat...

…make sure you take a good look at the schedule and calendar. Know that you’re probably going to have at least 9 of your 13 games in April and May. If you’re okay with that, then it is a good deal.

by ballhawk on Jan 14, 2009 10:49 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I would agree.

If you’re going to that many games and don’t care when you go, it’s a good deal to get tickets ahead of time at face value.

I bought the 9 game plan last year

and was very happy with it. One thing I really liked about the plan is I was able to purchase tickets before the single tickets went on sale.

It would be helpful to know the price of the tickets in advance. The ticket prices listed on the website are still for 2008.

Hey, it's a new century!

Ask and you shall receive

This is the ticket price fact sheet sent to season ticket holders. (link opens .pdf file)

My understanding is that single game ticket prices are the same as season ticket prices this year.

I purchased three 9-packs last year (two tickets each)

and it was worth every penny.

Since I’m not a season-ticket holder, I felt this was the closest I was going to get to being a STH, managing to work the schedule to purchase tickets to as many games as possible at face value (the same price the STH’s pay).

Between my daughter, friends, and me, we used most of the tickets. Selling the balance was fairly easy except arranging to meet the buyers at the last minute.

You're right, and...

… since you get first call on all those games, you’re in pretty good shape except for the most premium of dates.

Ended up buying a 13 bleacher pack as well as a 13 seat pack. Hopefully it works out. Thanks for the advice!

You can post for sale--at face value--any tickets you do not use

in the BCB Ticket Exchange.

Correct!

I’ll probably start posting those after the first day of general ticket sales, which is likely to be February 20.

Is this just a one day link or can it be purchased tomorrow as well?

Not sure, but

I bought a pack today. And in some instances the tickets were better than the ones I bought yesterday.

We're taking over. We're gonna have some hockey nets and some sticks in the clubhouse. The guys better watch out.

I just purchased four 13 game plans

And, I’m splitting them up 3 ways with some friends. A very nice alternative to paying a premium in order to share seasons… until I move up on the list!

Did one bleachers only… and the rest of them best seats available.

Overall, I have about 31 or 32 different games to choose from, they way I selected them. Our ticket draft should be fun!

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Just out of curiosity...

… what type of seats did “best available” get you?

by Al on Jan 16, 2009 4:13 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I did not try it yesterday, but

today it got me some great UD Box Infield mixed with some mediocre Terrace Rsvd. The Terrace seats were mostly higher rows, but not too many that were way into the outfield. I did get section 420 for the Sox game, which I am fairly excited about.

I just picked UD Box yesterday and got mostly outfield (but not to far out, like 431) but some infield.

I prefer 400 level so my results are a bit skewed that way.

Thanks for posting the season ticket info and calendar – it was really helpful for planning.

Happy to help.

Sounds like you did get some nice upper boxes. Enjoy the games!

All 200 levels...

mostly infield terrace reserved and then some outfield terrace reserved

I did it in mid-afternoon. I didn’t realize they went on sale that morning until rooting through my junk-mail. I nearly had a heart attack!

The rows seem to be almost all even with the poles, or behind them. Probably would’ve gotten better seats if I did it at 10am. (Doh!)

At first, the whole thing was mis-leading...

As I got the same e-mail posted above from the Cubs earlier in the week, and it read “The 2009 Lead Off Plan consists of one ticket to 13 games.”

I read that and thought, “1 ticket? 1 lousy ticket?” So, I just shrugged it off. Then, yesterday I saw people posting 2 ticket and 4 ticket 13 game plans on craigslist. I immediately logged on and bought seats.

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.
