Around SBN: 2012 Africa Cup Of Nations Final

I hope Ryan doesn't mind that I made this as a fanshot. It is Cub relevant, after all. Bob and ArizonaPhil are probably the two best Cubs prospect guys on the internet, although there was this guy on the cubs.com board that was from Boise and was real solid with that stuff.

okay this is really odd

I have a lot of respect for Bob Sacramento’s work, and I’d be the first to say that he knows far more than I ever would. As I always note, I’m just a fan.

But did Bob Sacramento plagiarize me? First off, I could care less. I’m just surprised.

Bob’s Comment on Caridad:

Caridad was one of the Cubs’ few international signings from 2007, coming over from Japan as a 24 year old. Esmailan has very deceptive secondary pitches, a curve and change, which both grade as plus pitches. He often uses his 88-91 mph fastball to setup his secondary stuff that he seems more comfortable with throwing. Caridad, like Atkins is a gamer, he has no problem challenging hitters or throwing them inside. Esmailan is also a very intelligent pitcher who works his spotsHe’s a hot name making the rounds this offseason, particularly with suggestions that he’ll start in AAA from Fleita. I like him. He throws strikes. I don’t know if his stuff is good enough to be anything more than a back of the rotation type, though, and as such Atkins, for his better year and being at a higher level, gets the edge over him. Solid winter so far and if he can maintain the higher velo, then the equation changes

Compare the bold aspect to this post I made over on MiLB when Sickels Top 20 list came out (November):

Just to be clear

I don’t really care … it was just surprising to me … and I’d be the first to say that Bob, whoever he is, is more knowledgeable than me in every single way shape or form. I’m just a fan. But as Ryan posts here sometimes, I was hoping to give him a heads up on it and didn’t know how to get in touch.

Appreciated.

Could you drop me an email? RPierce04@hotmail.com

whats even funnier....

did you notice in the comment section at the bottom of the page his starts with this

Yeah I wanted to make sure I got mine out before BA’s did, so there wasn’t any misconception that my list was my own unique take.

Hilarious

Really want to reiterate

Bob is a useful source of Cubs information online, probably one of the top Cubs minor league people online out there, along with ArizonaPhil and a couple other guys. Mistakes happen, I was just surprised when I read it.

Hmm...

first he hands out Willards instead of Wizards, and now this? Something’s fishy with this Bob Sacamano character – next thing you know, he’ll be selling fake Russian sable hats…

Holy crap.

That’s ridiculous. I applaud your turn-the-other-cheek attitude, but either he copied & pasted part of your post into his article or you just found your long lost twin brother. Well, if plagiarism imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, consider it a huge compliment.

Given the lack of punctuation and space between sentences

It looks like he cut and pasted, and maybe had selected the wrong thing, or meant to put it in quotes. You’re definitely right to question it, and he should answer.

By the way, it’s apparently Sacamento, not like the city with an “r”.

Seinfeld!

Bob Sacamento (sp?) was Kramer’s never-seen buddy…..

"[I]f we get a Jumbotron, I can't pull the instant replay thing on all the rookies. Every time there's a good play, we're like, 'Oh, look at the replay,' and you get the rookies to look at the scoreboard." - Ryan Dempster, 2 January 2009

Well, as I only have a sister

if he is some long lost relative, I’ve got questions for my folks!

Bob Sakamota (sp?) is longtime high school beat reporter for the Tribune...or at least he was

What’s he doing putting together Top 10 Cubbie lists? Perhaps he did indeed simply cut and paste.

Bob Saccamano is Cosmo’s golfing buddy.
